More Thoughts From Me #39: Luigi Is Afraid Of Every Ghost
If there’s something strange, in the neighborhood, who ya going to call? If you said “Ghostbusters”, you are wrong. Instead, you should give Luigi a call. As you can tell from his two adventures: Luigi’s Mansion for the Gamecube and Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon for the 3DS, Luigi is an experienced ghost catcher. He will get those ghosts out of your mansion faster than the Ghostbusters will. Though, there is one little catch…unlike the Ghostbusters….Luigi IS afraid of every ghost…
Poor Luigi. Its obvious that Luigi wants nothing to do with ghost hunting and yet, whenever there is a ghost problem in the Nintendo universe, he’s everyone’s go to guy!
For instance, in the recent Paper Mario Color Splash, a haunted hotel tried to get Luigi on the phone to ask him for help and…they only got his voice mail?! Man, now Luigi is starting to avoid calls like this. Well, hey, can you blame him?
Look at all the trouble Luigi went through in Luigi’s Mansion for Gamecube. That fight with the giant baby alone would turn anyone off of ghost hunting. And then in Dark Moon, Luigi was faced with all kinds of ghosts and nasty boss fights. The poor guy was shaking in his boots as he explored those dark mansions. You would think, at least, that Mario would give Luigi a helping hand in the second game, but that plumber was nowhere in sight in that game!! Luigi isn’t looking forward to his next trip into a haunted mansion, obviously, but I’m pretty sure there will be another game.
There have been two Luigi’s Mansion games, a Luigi’s Mansion mini-game in Nintendo Land, and tons of references to Luigi’s ghost hunting in other games such as Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam! I wonder how soon it’ll be before we see Luigi go after a ghost again?! Could we see a Luigi’s Mansion on the NX? I’d love to see one on the Wii U, but there seems to be a ghost of a chance there (sorry, couldn’t help it…). We have to wonder where the Luigi’s Mansion series can go next…
I hope in the next game that you can have Luigi team up with other Mario universe characters to explore some mansions. A multi-player element was brought into Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon, but it had you and other Luigi’s hunting ghosts in a non-storyline setting. I think it would be great to have Luigi and others take on the story. If you’re worried about Luigi not being as scared, come on, its Luigi we are talking about. Of course he’ll still be shaking in his boots. Heck, look at the recent Paper Mario, it looks like Mario would be right there along side him!
So, is multi-player the right way to go for the next Luigi’s Mansion or should Luigi just be on his own? I think it should go the multiplayer way, but I bet there’s some people who would just like it to be single player. What do you all think? Next week: READER QUESTIONS. YOU ask me game related questions and I give my opinion! Want my opinion on Playstation VR? Pokemon? Xbox Live? If you have a game related question, I’ll try to answer it (if I have room, if I get too many questions, I’ll have to select some). You can give me questions in the comment section or via twitter by contacting @df2506. If I get zero questions, I’ll just make some up! But I hope people will send me interesting game questions.
