More Thoughts From Me #193: Happy Halloween 2019

Its my favorite time of the year again: October, which means Halloween is just around the corner. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but it bares repeating again, I love Halloween. The candy, the spooky stuff, everything. I’m too old to go trick or treating but I still enjoy eating candy and watching spooky shows/movies this time of year. I also love playing spooky video games! Here’s what I’ve played lately and what I’ll play soon.

This year, I got to review a wonderful spooky/fun video game called MediEvil on the Playstation 4. Please check out my review. It really is a game you should check out, especially if you are looking for something a bit challenging!

But MediEvil isn’t the only spooky game I’ve played lately. I don’t have too many Halloween games on my PS4 or Switch but I do have some on my Wii U.

The old Wii U isn’t hooked up to the main TV anymore. I have it in my bedroom now but it isn’t hooked up to the TV. I just play it in off-tv mode once and awhile. So I recently looked into what spooky games I had on the system.

Right away, I was hit by disappointment. I wanted to play Costume Quest 2 but that game doesn’t have off-tv play. I had completely forgotten about that. I love Costume Quest 2. What a fun game. I wish it was on the Switch…

Moving on, I saw Don’t Starve and thought I’d check that game out. It has a very Tim Burton look to it. I like the gameplay, though I didn’t really get into it this time.

Then there was Lone Survivor. This survial horror game is pretty spooky. I only played it a little but I may get back to it.

I thought I had a Resident Evil game on my Wii U. I had forgotten that I had deleted it from the hard drive. So I had to re-download the game, which took forever. When it was finally redownloaded and installed, I played it some.

Resident Evil Revelations is a pretty cool game. The atmosphere is a lot like older Resident Evil, especially on the boat, but the behind the shoulder camera is totally Resident Evil 4. The story is very similar to something found in the newer Resident Evil games.

I enjoyed playing this game again and I want to play it more. Resident Evil is always a great game to play around this time of year!

The Wii U is still a good system. Yes, the Switch is better, but I have a ton more games on the Wii U and I’m glad I can still play some of them (sigh. just not Costume Quest 2).

That said, my actual Halloween plans will be focused on my 3DS and hopefully my Nintendo Switch. On Halloween, I will play Animal Crossing New Leaf’s Halloween event. This may be the last year because of New Horizons. Hopefully the Switch game will have holidays.

And I’m hoping that I get Luigi’s Mansion 3 on Halloween too. I can’t wait to play that game!

Halloween is almost here! What will you play to prepare for it? Will you play any games on Halloween? Let us know in the comments.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Next week: The spookiness  continues with my thoughts on Luigi’s Mansion 3’s gameplay! Does it live up to the hype?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Well, here’s hoping a Costume Quest 3 will make it to Switch at least.
