More Thoughts From Me #142: Just Dreaming About Dreams For the PS4

I don’t have a Playstation 4. This doesn’t mean that I don’t care about the system however. I keep my eye on games for this system and for the Xbox One. One of the games that I think sounds the most interesting for the Playstation 4 is Dreams. Media Molecule, the creator of LittleBigPlanet, is creating a brand new game where you can create your own levels. Well, its more than that even. Let me tell you more about Dreams and what I think about it so far. Also, check out the video below, which explains the create mode in Dreams much better than I ever could!

I loved LittleBigPlanet. The first game, especially, was fantastic.

And now Media Molecule is taking creation to the next level with the Playstation 4 exclusive game Dreams.

In Dreams, players will be able to create levels, games, movies, and more. Media Molecule has shown off some levels that they created and they look jaw-droppingly impressive.

The game’s story mode was completely created with the level creator. In the newest Game Informer, Media Molecule showed off a noir detective adventure game that easily went into a platformer, action adventure game, and then circled back to the noir detective game. The mix of genres, plus the hint of first person games, actual movies you can create, and more sounds like LittleBigPlanet but even better.

Unlike LittleBigPlanet, there is no main protaginist that carries over to the creation mode (no Sackboy). Instead, you create your own main character or borrow from what Media Molecule or someone else created.

It also sounds like there is more sculpting and molding of creations then there was in LittleBigPlanet.

From the sound of it though, there will still be items that you unlock via the story mode and other ways that’ll help you create. Plus you will eventually be able to get other people’s help with creating levels.

Media Molecule is looking to create a community with Dreams thats big and full of levels (and other things) that people can play and share. The new creation mode sounds amazing. It also sounds very complex. I hope its not too complex. Even so, if you are not a creator, you’ll want to get this game just so you can play the amazing things that people create!

I love creation games like LittleBigPlanet and Super Mario Maker. I think Dreams sounds fantastic. I’d love to play this game. Hopefully I’ll get to play it someday.
