FIFA 21: What is new in the brand-new FIFA game?

It is that time of the year again when EA Sports releases the latest edition of one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all-time. Of course, that videogame franchise is FIFA and the new version of the game drops on October 6th for the Champions edition and October 9th for the standard copy.

Football fans and video gamers around the globe are anticipating the game’s release and the upgrades made for the 2021 release. FIFA 21 players and fans can wager on the latest e-football players and tournaments online. These new betting sites offer the latest odds and bonuses for fans of FIFA e-tournaments.

So, what is new in FIFA 21? Has the best-selling sports franchise outdone itself yet again?

Subtle improvements in key areas

Until the game officially drops in the first full week of October, it is difficult to judge just what is new from the demos. That said, there are already some areas in which EA Sports have worked hard to develop FIFA 21 and push it on from last year’s release.

Many of the improvements seen thus far are subtle, yet they come in key areas that really improve gameplay. Midfielders have been given more time on the ball, while defenders’ ability to intercept passes and get into passing lanes has been upgraded.

Goalkeepers take up better positioning and do not get beat at their near post quite so easily. Attacking players are also more aware of the defence’s offside trap. Strikers pay more attention to staying in line with the last defender and do not stray offside as much as in previous versions of FIFA.

Career mode upgrades

If you are an old-school FIFA player (I would rather spend hours in career mode than ever playing online), you will have experienced many of the same aspects in career mode over the years. Finally, FIFA 21 will have upgraded career mode features.

One interesting part of career mode is that you can enter a game while it is being simulated to play key parts. This gives you the chance to sim through season but still play significant parts of matches. Don’t fancy playing that Carabao Cup third round tie versus Port Vale? You can simulate it and play the final 30 minutes of the fixture.

The youth academy portion of the game has received some love – it really needed it. Players coming through the youth ranks can now begin playing in a specific position only to be moved to another position as they develop. It is one aspect of the game that reflects real life as players who change positions as they get older.

What about Volta?

One of FIFA 20’s most well-received aspects was Volta. Whether you played online or offline, Volta was a breath of fresh air. Volta is back for a second straight year and has received some upgrades as well.

Volta has new street courts and pitches to play on. There are additional reworkings to the gameplay in Volta as well. Of course, many are subtle, but you will notice when playing.

Although the street soccer, small-sided renaissance declined a bit over the last year, EA Sports is continuing to push it as a major part of FIFA 21.
