Disney Dreamlight Valley Scar Update Impressions
Last week, Disney Dreamlight Valley had its first content update! I’ve had a chance to try it out on the Xbox Series S via gamepass. Here are my thoughts so far.
I’ve been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley since it launched on gamepass. I’ve enjoyed it a lot too. The game is said to have a lot of issues on the Nintendo Switch, but on the Xbox Series S, it seemed like it had less issues. Some occasional glitches but nothing more. And then the first major content update arrived…
Okay. I’m going to get the bad out of the way first. Ever since the update, Disney Dreamlight Valley has been freezing up more than it use to. The auto-save helps some, but sometimes I’ve had to repeat a little bit of a quest after the game freezes. I really need to remember to manual save more often. There has also been a couple more strange glitches too but freezing up has been the biggest issue.
Let’s put the freeze ups aside though. Is the game still fun? Absolutely. What about the new content?
Well, first of all, Scar is a blast. He is so grumpy and so evil. I have to admit I like having him around. Does that make me bad? I hope not. Something about his grumpiness is strangely likeable though. I already have him about level 6 friendship. He’s pretty close to being a level 7 friend. Sooner rather than later, I will have him at level 10! I like him more than Ursela (though shes neat) and Mother Gothel (shes ok).
Then there’s the new mine in the Sunlit Plateau! It is amazing. Wow. The mine is huge and theres so much in it. There also looks to be plenty of ways in which the mine can be expanded and added onto in a future update. I hope so! That said, I do wish there was a quick way to exit the mine. Trekking all the way back to the exit every time feels like an old jrpg!
As for the new quest for Scar, I’ve finished the main part of it but it looks there is still more to do with him. I’m looking forward to seeing how he fits in (or not) with the rest of the valley.
Also I really love the new Villain event that’s going on. Wish I had more points to buy some stuff, but I’m excited to earn more points and I’m very happy that I already got the Mirror (mirror, on the wall). So cool.
Overall, I love the new content that’s been added via the update. Though I’m not a fan of the all the freezing up. Hopefully we won’t have to wait until the Toy Story update to get some help with the freezing. That said, it does sound like we’ll see the Toy Story update soonish.
Despite all glitches and freezing it has, Disney Dreamlight Valley remains one of my favorite games of 2022. If not my favorite, though it does have some recent competition. If you’ve been following me @df2506 on twitter, you might know what that game is. I’ll have a review for that game later this week…
Anyway, what do you think of Disney Dreamlight Valley? Are you enjoying the update?
