Canadian Studios Pumping out Quality AAA Titles
Today is yet another big day in a long history of big days for Ubisoft, a worldwide video game development company with multiple studios scattered around Canada. One of the largest – Ubisoft Toronto – was the team behind today’s launch, Watch Dogs: Legion. Yesterday, Ubisoft Toronto hosted an industry event via YouTube, giving media and fans the opportunity to ask questions of the Toronto team, about how Watch Dogs: Legion was created. We asked a few of our own questions around the various studios working relationships, and got some fantastic responses!
Canada has long been known as an indie developing powerhouse. With tons of great indie games coming from the Great White North, it’s easy to forget we have some of the largest development teams in the world in our own backyard. This year, Ubisoft Toronto – Watch Dogs: Legion – and Ubisoft Montreal – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – are going to be directly in the spotlight as having two of the biggest titles launching alongside Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5.
Yesterday’s event did focus on Watch Dogs: Legion, and we asked the development team about how Ubisoft Quebec contributed to this project as they had built a much older London for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Here are their responses (via my Twitter feed):
"We're extremely grateful to the AC team in Quebec for that."

A few folks who worked on London for #Syndicate worked on London for #Legion (which makes sense): "Oh man I'm sure at least a few people worked on ACS"

There is so many major projects coming out of Canada, and we cannot wait to see what else the Ubisoft teams in Canada create on next generation consoles!
