Bam Box – September 2016
After a fairly difficulty month last month, which saw Bam Box release arguably its worst box to date, the pendulum shifted once again to the positive side, as Bam Box once again delivered one of September’s best subscription boxes. Many of the items were tied to relevant events that happened in August 2016, which made the box even more enjoyable.
Pin and Packaging
Bam Box is easily the best packed box on the market right now. Contents of the box are nicely hidden by a cardboard flap that opens opposite of the box itself. The company has done a great job branding itself. Even without the word BAM! on the front, I would know what it was.
Every box comes packed with a pin, which can be upgraded for those that get the pin upgrade 1Up postcard. I recieved the normal pin this week, which was of Bettlejuice! Bettlejuice…no I cannot!
Stranger Things and an Instant Winner
At first, I thought this month was heavy on the Stranger Things because of the popular show! However, I quickly realized that not many people actually got one of the items I did. Everyone got the baseball bat with nails, a fitting Stranger Things item, although one that many will find odd to find in their boxes. I’m not really sure what I’ll do with mine because of younger kids running about; I think it’s destined for a shadow box!
Like I said previously, my box was an instant winner this month, which meant I also received an extra item that very few Bam Box subscribers got! I got a replica baseball hat worn by Dustin (actor Gaten Matarazzo); the best part: it was autographed!
That kid is all the rage right now, so…it’s pretty awesome to have this item!
Alice in Wonderland White Rabbit Replica Watch
I’m not a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, and I really think the new live action movies are pretty terrible. That being said, I do love collecting movie replica props, and I love pocket watches. The White Rabbit watch makes a great new addition to my movie memorabilia case at home!
The detail on the watch is really great; in fact, the cheapest part of the whole item is the small pouch you get it in. That’s saying a lot, because frankly the pouch was probably more for packing purposes than anything else. The watch has a nice weight to it and a great design on the outside. What a wonderful collectible!
Grimm Comic Book, Inception ‘Totem’ Set
I’m not going to love everything in every box I receive, but this month, these extra items – as I like to call them – were not that bad. I’m not the kind of guy that will go out and buy comic books, but getting them in subscription boxes – generally mostly in the Bam Box – is a great way to get myself reading a different medium.
The totem set – top and die – from Inception, like the pocket watch, make great replica movie memorabilia that I can add to my collection. I really enjoyed that film, as mind trippy as it got at times. These things may seem small, but they generally always find a great place in my home.
Gene Wilder Print
I’m not sure if every box came with the Gene Wilder print – may he rest in peace – but I really hope they all did. As far as I can remember, this was a late addition to the Bam Box, and highlights what I said earlier. This company cares about recognizing prominent people in the entertainment business, and making sure their fans receive items that have some relevance in the present. This is an excellent example of this, and Bam Box creators should be proud of themselves.
Conclusion
This is the best Bam Box to date in my opinion, and the best subscription box of September hands down. Didn’t get an item you wanted? The people at Bam Box have now set up a community site where you can trade items with other subscribers! Just head over to thebambox.com/community to get started!
