Nintendo will Remake Minish Cap, Right?
With the upcoming release of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga on the Nintendo 3DS – available at retail and on the Nintendo eShop on October 6 – I started wondering what other great Nintendo Gameboy Advance titles we could possibly see remastered on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems in the near future. My personal choice would be The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap! Many people have been calling for the death of the Nintendo 3DS ever since the Nintendo Switch launched, citing a variety of reasons, most predominantly that Nintendo should focus their time and money on the Switch. I disagree.
The Nintendo 3DS is still selling incredibly well in both Japan and the West. When adding all the Nintendo 3DS family of systems together – including all variations of the 3DS and the 2DS together – Nintendo consistently finished around 3rd in monthly sales, behind only their own console, the Nintendo Switch, and the Playstation 4. Not only is the Nintendo 3DS finishing in the top 3 for sales, but it’s also selling thousands and thousands of unit each and every week. The demand for the product is obviously there, and by extension, there is – and will be – a demand for the games.
We’ve seen Nintendo allocate resources to new and remastered titles this year, and I only hope this continues into the future. The release of Mario and Luigi this October is hopefully the first in a long line of remastered Nintendo Gameboy Advance titles. Preferably next on my list, The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, one of the best titles ever released on a handheld system, ever.
What do you think? If you could have any Nintendo Gameboy Advance title remastered on the Nintendo 3DS, which would it be?
