Music to Rayman’s Ears: A Look at the Musical Genius of Rayman Legends Definitive Edition

I love music in video games. I see video games as a visual, audio, and tactile experience. A bad audio experience won’t  kill a game but its always a disappointment to me when the audio isn’t where it should be. Of course, not all games can have a great score. I’d settle for a good score. But wow, isn’t it great when developers go the extra mile and create an amazing audio experience? Rayman Legends Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch goes the extra mile…and beyond!

Rayman Legends Definitive Edition has special musical levels for players to experiance. In these levels, music plays a key role; players must run and jump to the beat of these special level’s music. I have only played two of these levels so far, but I love both of them. Castle Rock, especially, is awesome.

However, the genius of Raygman Legend’s music does not stop at these special levels. The music in all of this game is fantastic. There are even some non-music based levels that have you wanting to keep up to the pace of game’s music.

The music in Rayman Legends Definitive Edition changes depending on whats going on in the game. Rayman Legends has an extremely dynamic score. If you are being chased by a dragon, you’ll see that happen of course, but the music will also protray that threat as well. If you are just slowly walking along in a level, a lazy type of music will appear. Its amazing how much detail and thought was put into this game’s music.

And it should be noted that Rayman Legends has very good sound effects too. The world of Rayman Legends feels very alive. The enemies of Rayman have a wonderful visual and audio identity. I will say it again: the music in this game is genius.

Have you bought Rayman Legends Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch? If you haven’t, go do that now! This game is worth every penny.
