More Thoughts From Me: Tetris Forever and Ever

One of the coolest announcements from the most recent Nintendo Direct was Tetris Forever. When I saw that, I thought “My Dad would’ve loved that game”. I actually knew I’d love it too. Okay I’m going to get nostalgic on you.

When I was kid, my Dad bought a Gameboy. He bought a Gameboy for himself. You see, my Dad was gamer too. He got me into the hobby and kept gaming for the rest of life. One of his favorite games was Tetris and so yes, he played it a ton of the Gameboy. He also played the one on the NES and any other system he had. My Dad was mostly into portable systems, though he did play some Playstation 1 games, Gamecube, and a little bit of the Wii.

Tetris was a constant in our lives though. My Dad would always play Tetris. His favorite was the Gameboy Tetris and he even had it on his 3DS. Yes my Dad had a 3DS. He never got to play the Gameboy Tetris on the Switch. My Dad passed away in 2021. He would’ve loved the Gameboy Tetris on Switch and he absolutely would’ve bought Tetris Forever.

Tetris Forever will have more than 15 versions of Tetris. Plus its going to have a built-in documentary. My head spins thinking about that many of versions of Tetris. Not only that but seeing the people behind the franchise and hearing more about the story of the making of the series.

Yes, I did see the Apple Plus movie about Tetris. I liked it a bunch. And yeah that was another thing that my Dad missed. I keep thinking about all the amazing things that he’s missing. I miss him a ton. I will absolutely get Tetris Forever for the Nintendo Switch. I have to do that for my Dad. I have to do that for me. I love Atari 50 and the Cowabunga Collection. Digital Eclipse, the developer of all of these games, is amazing!

Tetris Forever will be a must have for any puzzle game fan. Its supposed to come out this year! I can’t wait.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Tetris NES is coming to the NSO service this year too!
