Geek Fuel – August 2016

I saw a bunch of spoilers for this months Geek Fuel box, and was excited about getting it, but not excited about unboxing it. So I changed things up, and had my son unbox it. This months Geek Fuel had many items very suitable for kids, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to set up Logan for YouTube stardom! Not really, but he had a blast. Check out the video below and our review after the break. As always, you can head to www.geekfuel.com/gamereviews to get your own box. Any multi-month subscription will come with a extra item(s)!

Geek Fuel rarely has a theme month-to-month, but it has been one of our favorite boxes. This month, the team over at Geek Fuel tried to hit on everything trending in pop culture, and they did a fantastic job.

Looney Tunes Mystery Figure

The first item Logan unboxed was the Looney Tunes Mystery Figure. Although I still have no idea who that character is, it was still a great get in this box; the figure is already on Logan’s small (but growing) shelf of nerdy items. You gotta get them started young!

Geek Fuel GO Pouch

Other subscription boxes are attempting to somehow attach themselves to the Pokemon GO craze, but haven’t really done a great job. Geek Fuel knocked it out of the park. My son has already used his Geek Fuel GO Pouch – with the include blue Mystic team logo displayed proudly in the front – on numerous trips around the neighborhood with my wife’s iPhone. Although there really isn’t anything you NEED to take while hunting for Pokemon, he enjoys putting a few of his Pokemon cards in there, a lollypop or 2, and other candy.

Transformers tShirt

This months Optumus Prime Transformers tShirt was one of the least flashy shirts I have ever received, and that isn’t a bad thing. I find some shirts either too busy or too extreme for my tastes; the design on this shirt is still detailed, but doesn’t come across as ‘loud.’ That has me written all over it!

Dungeon Rift Donwload Code and Magnets

Nothing gets my kids going more than a set of good magnets on the kitchen fridge. I have no idea why, but they can spend hours playing and rearranging magnets. These new additions will keep them occupied for a few minutes at least.

Dungeon Rift seems like a pretty interesting game. It is available on Steam for 10.99 in Canada, so it is a good value for this box! Here is what the description is on Steam:

“Join Sir Bucket and his friends in their peaceful journey through DungeonRift!

Kill everybody on the level, grab the loot and move to the portal. But what’s that? Monsters are following you! And they’re becoming stronger and smarter! And the dungeon itself transforms into a darker, crippier and more dangerous place! How long will Sir Bucket survive?

Monsters are leveling instead of the player. Each enemy in DungeonRift has its own perks and abilities that they learn randomly, creating surprising and dangerous combinations. Every run won’t be the same – different monsters choosing random perks will force Sir Bucket to adapt his strategy every time.

Obliterate your foes, explore the Rift, unlock new weapons and meet new rivals in your endless struggle in DungeonRift!”

Geek Fuel Mascot Pin, Suicide Squad Comic

The Geek Fuel mascot pin was a nice addition to this box, and I know we have said this before – to Geek Fuel as well – but please include more Geek Fuel themed items. They are a big hit with fans!

I have not yet cracked the Suicide Squad comic, but when I do, be sure to check back here for an update.

Conclusion

Overall, this was a top notch box. For what you are paying, the value is obviously here. Head over to www.geekfuel.com/gamereviews today and grab your own!
