Absolute Tactics: Daughters of Mercy
Absolute Tactics: Daughters of Mercy is a brand new strategy rpg that just came out for the Nintendo Switch. Is it worth checking out? Here is our review!
Huxley is just minding his own business when he stubbles upon a dog and a major threat that he has to deliver a warning of. However, he arrives too late and the village is already being attacked. Instead of leaving, he stays to help and is drawn into an epic fight against a dark evil.
Absolute Tactics has an interesting story, with some occasional witty dialogue. Though its gameplay is better. The game is a strategy rpg. If we’re comparing it to something, we’d say it was a little like Disgaea. The menus and taller characters will remind srpg fans of that series. That said, Absolute Tactics does bring its own unique battles to the table. The game also starts off easy and then quickly becomes a much harder game.
In between battles, you’ll be able to stop up on healing items and equipment. This is done via a barebones menu system. There are classes to learn and many items to acquire. You can even take on side battles to gain special items and level up more. Though it would’ve been nice if instead of just doing this through a menu, there was a world map and a way to track your progress through the game or a walkable hub area like Disgaea.
Still, Absolute Tactics is a fun game with quite a bit of challenge. Each battle will surprise you with not just the enemies strength but also other obstacles you have to overcome. This can be a pretty hard game.
Control wise, its better to use the d-pad instead of the analog stick to move. The analog controls are a bit dodgy, especially moving from tile to tile can be a pain. This is clearly a game where you’ll want to use non-analog controls. Also, it would’ve been nice if the game let you turn the in-game camera to look over the battles. The camera in Absolute Tactics is locked and the angle of the camera isn’t always great.
Absolute Tactics is a challenging and fun strategy rpg overall. And its looks good too!
Absolute Tactics graphics are very nice. The tall characters are well designed and each of the environments you visit are full of nice details.
Overall, Absolute Tactics is a great game. If you are up for a challenge and you like strategy rpgs, then this will be a game you’ll want to check out!
