More Thoughts From Me #79: A Better (Lego) Marvel

I loved the first Lego Marvel game. It had Spider-man, the X-men, the Fantastic Four, and a ton of other Marvel superheroes. Plus, it had a fully explorable New York City. Lego Marvel 2, coming later this year, looks like it’ll be even bigger and better than the first game. Here are my thoughts on the game so far.

Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way first: the X-men might not be in Lego Marvel 2. There was a rumor recently, that I thought was an official announcement, that the X-men would be in the game. The source for that rumor backed away from that statement quickly. There’s still no official announcement about the X-men. Also, its very possible that the Fantastic Four are not in the game either.

And yet, I believe that even without those two groups Lego Marvel 2 could be better than the first game.

The Guardians of the Galaxy have a big role in this second game. Spider-man, Spider-man 2099, Spider-man Noir, and a bunch of other Spidey characters will be in the game too. Plus all of the Avengers, some more obscure characters, and some yet to be announced ones. Lego Marvel 2 has a big roster of characters (and no console exclusives this time). And then there’s the games setting(s)…

Kang, a time traveling villian, is messing around with time and creates the open hub world of the game from mixing and matching different places from different time periods. The new open world is going to be full of different times/places from the Marvel universe that fans can explore. So you’ve got a ton of cool characters and a ton of new cool locations. Lego Marvel 2 is shaping up to be a great game. And it’ll be a game that fans will want to play on the Switch too!

Lego Marvel 2 will be coming to all the major video game consoles including the Nintendo Switch. On the Switch, players will be able take a huge Lego Marvel world with them on the go and put it back on the big screen whenever they are home. This is a big deal. We’ve had portable Lego games before but they’ve always been watered down experiences! This time, people will be able to play in a huge Lego Marvel universe while on the go.

Lego Marvel 2 could be the best Marvel game yet. Well for all I know, it could be the best Lego game yet too! Are you looking forward to the game? Please let us know in the comments!
