More Thoughts From Me #178: Welcome to Detroit

Detroit Become Human isn’t really a game. It is more like an interactive movie where you can pick dialogue choices and press buttons for quick time events. Its “gameplay” is a lot like its predecessor Heavy Rain. And yet, it has a story that transcends its gameplay and it’ll hook you right from the start. Here are my thoughts on Detroit Become Human for the Playstation 4. Warning: there will be spoilers!

Detroit Become Human won’t win any awards for its gameplay. Its gameplay just isn’t the point. Detroit is more like a movie than a video game. And it has a heck of a story to tell!

Each of the three main characters in Detroit Become Human are complex and very intersting. Each of them seem more human than many of the humans you’ll meet in the story.

Its hard to pick who my favorite character in the story is. I was going to say Kara because of her relationship with Alice and how gripping that story was, but then I remember how much Connor went through or how Marcus clawed his way out of that junkyard and become the leader of a revolution. Each of the characters have spectacular storylines. And I love how you direct them and how the humans and non-humans around them grow and change.

I’ve only played Detroit Become Human once so far. I want to go back and play it again already. I’m dying to know how many other directions the stories could’ve gone. I did get a great ending for Connor and Markus but Kara and Alice’s ending was not so good. What else could’ve I done? I want to go back!

Detroit Become Human was this month’s Playstation Plus game. I got this game for free! I just can’t believe that. I’m so glad I got a chance to see this story. I did check out a demo of it but I wasn’t that impressed by it. I thought the graphics were great and the story seemed interesting but I didn’t want to go right out and get it. But then I got Detroit Become Human for free and loved it.

Will I ever go back and check out the other ways the story could’ve gone? I hope so. I want to see a better ending for Kara and Alice. I also want to see what would’ve happened if Connor had stayed on the side of the cops!

Detroit Become Human is a fantastic experiance. I hope we see more like it on the Playstation 4 and beyond!
