More Thoughts From Me #127: Crash crashes onto the Nintendo Switch
Once upon a time, Crash Bandicoot called Mario out. At the time, Mario and Crash were on separate systems. Crash and his makers just felt like he was better than Mario. Of course, we all know that wasn’t and isn’t true. Still, the first Crash game for the Playstation 1 was a lot of fun and challenging. I don’t think I ever played the second or third Crash game. And now all three games are on the Nintendo Switch via the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. I’ve played a little bit of each title now. How do these games play on the Switch? How do they look? Should you buy this trilogy? I’ll try to answer those questions in today’s column.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a lot of fun.
The first game remains a bit simple in concept and hard in execution. The platforming on this game can sometimes be…insane…
And the second game has hard gameplay but it changes things up a little by adding some new stuff. Then the third game was basically the developer saying “Lets put everything in this game. Including the kitchen sink.” There are so many different types of levels in the third one. It does keep things interesting!
All three of the games play great on the Switch. I love playing these games in portable mode especially, though the game does look better on the TV.
In handheld mode, the trilogy looks good but a bit darker than it does on the TV. These games do look better on the Nintendo Switch than they did on the Playstation 1, however they don’t look as good on Switch as they do on other systems (PS4/Xbox One).
The real reason to own the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on Nintendo Switch is the portability. Its great to be able to play the original Crash games no matter where I am. If you have good memories of these games, have a Switch, and feel like playing them again, then I recommend this game on the Switch.
What about people who have never played Crash before? Should they pick it up? I think its depends on how much of a platformer fan you are. There are better platformers on the Switch (SuperMarioOdyssey) but then again, you do get three games for the price of one. Actually the price for these three games is really good. Its up to you, the reader, if you feel like the game(s) are worth it.
I’m having a lot of fun with the trilogy though. I especially like that third game!
Have you played the Crash N. Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy? Which one of the games is your favorite?
Next week: Warioware Gold is right around the corner. I love Warioware. I’ll talk about why and also about this new game! Just don’t tell Wario ok? That guy gets a big head whenever anyone talks about him…
More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Crash should totally be in Smash Bros Ultimate!
