Honey Buzz – Fall Flavors Unboxing and Components Review

We get a ton of games to review at GamesReviews.com, and it’s pretty rare at this point that I purchase games with my own money. No, I’m not cheap – I just don’t have time to play games for “fun” anymore as so much time is spent handling review items. But Honey Buzz was a game I really wanted, so not only did I pick up the base game from a local retailer, but I also got all the deluxe components as well, imported from the lovely Province of Quebec!

One of our media partners reached out and asked whether we would like to look at the expansion for Honey Buzz called Fall Flavors. This was an easy ‘yes’ for me. Based on the outstanding production of Honey Buzz, even without all the deluxified bits, I knew that Fall Flavors would be a great addition to my collection. I was right!

First, the things we need to get out of the way. Fall Flavors includes 4 50 Point scoring acorns, and while the cardboard quality is outstanding, I wish they had just included 4 wooden pieces as well as the cardboard for those who had the wooden “coins” for the original. It’s a minor gripe, for sure, but still one that I instantly thought about when opening the box.

And that’s where my issues end. All of the cardboard components are fantastic. They are nice and thick, and it’s one game where I would argue that the deluxe components aren’t really necessary since the base components are so good. Thick cardboard, nicely finished cards. This game is a treat to play, and looks gorgeous. The fall themed artwork will give your next game of Honey Buzz a bit of a different flavor as well.

The really charming addition in this box is the fruits! One of the bigger additional modules in Fall Flavors is the fruit you can collect and sell during the game. While tokens would have been more than appropriate, we instead get fantastic and squishy little pumpkins, pears, and apples. They look great, they feel great, and once again, are a fantastic addition to the table presence of this experience.

We will have more on what we thought of Fall Flavors in the near future, but rest assured this game is one of the best produced retail games we’ve had the privilege of playing in a long time!
