Does Star Wars: Shatterpoint Need More Terrain?

One of the great features about the Star Wars: Core Box is that it includes a decent amount of terrain to set up your first battlefield. With the inclusion of the High Ground and Low Ground expansions terrain boxes as well, you can quickly fill up your table with terrain. Shatterpoint almost requires a decent amount of terrain, so the question begs to be asked: what terrain should we get next?

I would love an environmental terrain pack in the not-to-distant future. Trees, bushes, you name it – we need a bit of real life injected into the world of Star Wars: Shatterpoint. Thing is, I feel like this is unlikely to happen, so what do I actually think is coming?

First and foremost, I wouldn’t be shocked if we got a wrecked ship terrain pack. Perhaps part of a Star Destroyer or other large vessel, destroyed and packed into the box so you can scatter it around your terrain. This terrain would likely only provide cover and such, and you wouldn’t actually climb on it, but all painted up this could be a phenomenal way to create a battlefield.

With the inclusion of Ewoks in the next few months, I’m hoping Shatterpoint leaves behind the (assumed) desert landscape we are currently playing and moves towards the forests of Endor.

I said earlier that we likely won’t get bio-terrain, but how awesome would it be to get terrain for an Ewok village? I think this is actually something that will happen sooner rather than later when the Ewok’s land, and the possibilities are endless with Endor. I’ve already seen a few really awesome custom terrain maps with an Ewok village so, maybe I just need to create my own?

And that brings me to my final thought – even if we don’t get the terrain we want, there is always opportunities to create our own terrain.

With so many Star Wars figures / toys in the market today, it probably isn’t too difficult to find something that would scale well for your Shatterpoint table. And when in doubt, just make it! But to answer the question we posed in the title of this article, “Does Star Wars: Shatterpoint need more terrain?” The answer is unequivocally, yes.
