Why OSRS is the Perfect Pastime
Old School RuneScape has been a prime example of a game standing the test of time. With Jagex making the decision to maintain the Old School Runescape rendition of the series at the request of many, many fans, it has been a mainstay of the MMO scene for well over a decade now.
Fans wanting to hunt down OSRS gold, slay demons, or just spend their days fishing and crafting, there is so much to do in the game to make you want to keep coming back for more as a veteran, or test the waters as an entirely new player.
There are a few features that do make it stand out from the crowd, and they are the reasons behind the longevity of the title for the past several years. With that in mind, here’s why OSRS is the perfect pastime.
OSRS Gameplay Variety
There are a lot of MMO titles on the market that may feature heavily on side quests and other activities, but OSRS has such a wealth of content that you can see why there is so much for players to keep coming back for.
With the way in which skill levelling works, and the amount of those skills that are available for you to grind with, it opens up a number of ways that you can approach the game. You could choose to level up your combat skills to take on one of the many dungeons across the world map. You could decide to grind other skills such as woodcutting from chopping down trees, chill out from going fishing, go mining for ore, head out on a quest, and so much more.
Unique Combat System
The way in which Old School RS approaches combat is also unique from other games. Rather than choosing a class from the start as you do with so many other MMOs, here you are tasked with grinding from the start without a class.
One of the important points to make is why Old School RS is such a good pastime, and the combat system aids this. It does so by having a system where you are rewarded for fighting over a period of time. There is a range of different attacks for you to use, including ranged, magic, and combat whilst switching between traits such as accuracy, defence or strength to take down your foes.
Updates and Community Input
Where OSRS is concerned, Jagex has made it so that there is a lot of community involvement when it comes to updates and new content. There are weekly updates to the game, as well as new content being added even this late after launch. Community members also play a massive part on the new content that comes to OSRS in certain cases, as it was when the decision was being made to keep the old school version of the game going.
It’s Available on Mobile
If you are looking to pass time whilst on the go, then OSRS mobile is also available for you, and it’s even cross-play with the PC version for additional convenience. If you find yourself out and about with nothing to do, or perhaps you are just looking to kill some time and have your phone handy, then you can continue your progress from wherever you are with your handheld device.
It’s a great way for you to carry on with progressing with your game when playing on mobile. For example, you can set an AFK task to complete and simply set your phone down for however long you need to, then go ahead and carry on with work, watch TV, or whatever activity you want to do whilst away from the game.
OSRS has done a great job of standing the test of time, and has managed to maintain a massive playerbase where others may have fallen by the wayside. If you are looking to kill time in an MMO, then Old School Runescape is a fantastic option to choose, whether you are sat at home or on the go.
