Ubisoft Forward 2024 Recap
Ubisoft’s digital games showcase, Ubisoft Forward, continued the momentum of the Summer Game Fest with exciting details on upcoming titles like Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, XDefiant, and a trio of Prince of Persia projects, including a release window for the long-awaited Sands of Time remake (with a bit of a wait).
Here’s a breakdown of Ubisoft’s announcements:
Star Wars Outlaws
Live out your bounty hunter dreams this summer in Star Wars Outlaws, a new open-world adventure set in the Star Wars galaxy. Players control Kay Vess, a scrappy scoundrel who tangles with criminal cartels, explores familiar and new locations, and engages in thrilling space and ground battles on Tatooine. A 10-minute gameplay demo showcased the diverse environments, alien species, and combat styles, building anticipation for the August 30th release.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
For the first time ever, the Assassin’s Creed series ventures to feudal Japan in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Players take on dual roles: the stealthy shinobi Naoe or the powerful samurai Yasuke. A deep dive during Ubisoft Forward provided a 13-minute gameplay walkthrough highlighting the unique playstyles of both protagonists. Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on November 15th.
Prince of Persia
Ubisoft celebrated the franchise’s 35th anniversary with a trifecta of Prince of Persia announcements:
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown receives a free content update featuring revamped bosses, puzzles, amulets, outfits, and more. Additionally, story DLC titled “Mask of Darkness” arrives in September.
- The Rogue Prince of Persia, the early access roguelite platformer, gets a challenging update called “Temple of Fire” from Evil Empire and Ubisoft.
- The long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake finally has a release window, but fans will need to wait a bit longer. Ubisoft announced a 2026 release date.
XDefiant
Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter, XDefiant, kicks off its first season on July 2nd. Season 1 brings new maps, a Capture the Flag mode, fresh weapons, and a new faction – the GSK from Rainbow Six.
Anno 117: Pax Romana
The next installment in Ubisoft and Blue Byte’s Anno series, Anno 117: Pax Romana, arrives in 2025. Players take on the role of a Roman governor, overseeing the growth and development of their empire. A lighthearted live-action trailer during Ubisoft Forward highlighted the challenges of governing with your most loyal subjects being… goats.
