More Thoughts From Me #74: Revisiting Dragon Quest 7 for 3DS

I felt like playing an rpg again, but I didn’t have any new rpgs on hand. I considered starting a new game on Dragon Quest 7 for 3DS. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go all through the game again. Then, I remembered that the game had random dungeons that you can visit and fight enemies in. So I decided that I’d revisit my old save file. I was surprised by what I found.

I knew that Dragon Quest 7 had a place called the Download Bar where you could download dungeons from Square Enix and others. I had downloaded some of these maps before I stopped playing the game and moved on.

I had beat Dragon Quest 7 and after awhile, I thought I had seen everything the game had to offer. I was wrong.

When I went back to Dragon Quest 7 recently, I discovered two new story based DLC dungeons. I hadn’t realized there were more of these. I had played one story based DLC before I quit Dragon Quest 7, but had known nothing about the extra ones.

I looked online and discovered that there had been a few different story dlc maps. I hope Square will put the others in the Download Bar again.

It wasn’t just story DLC dungeons that I found though. There were also random dungeons that you could download, which I did know about, but I didn’t realize that you got special items from them and ran into special monsters too.

So I’m playing Dragon Quest 7 again. I found myself going through the random dungeons. I added my Monster Masher back to the party so that I could recruit monsters too.

The monsters, once recruited, go to a place called Monster Meadows where they can live happily ever after. You can also create new random dungeons with the help of these monsters!

I’m also hoping that I’ll see more story DLC dungeons from Square.

Its great to be playing Dragon Quest 7 again. Its a fun game. I think sooner or later I’d like to play through the game entirely again. But for now, I’m pretty happy with continuing my old save.
