Sun Wukong VS Robot

Sun Wukong Vs Robot is another 2D Metroid-like game for the Nintendo Switch. Will it make an impression on you? Will it be just another good game in a sea of others Metroidvania’s? Then again, it could just be a bad one. Let’s find out in this review of Sun Wukong Vs. Robot!

Sun Wukong Vs. Robot is a 2D action/adventure Metroidvania game. It looks a lot like Metroid in fact, though its character is smaller and faster than Samus. The enemies are faster than anything you’d find in Metroid too.

The game basically plays like a cross between Metroid and Mega Man with the fast forward button pressed down. It can sometimes be challenging, especially during boss fights.

Just like Metroid, you’ll find places to save through the levels. New powerups will help you fight enemies and you need to explore everywhere to make sure you are finding everything. In some ways, its a bit too much like Metroid though.

Its graphics are good and so is its music is too. Some of the music, though, sounds like Metroid music. And…is that a lightsaber sound during that one boss battle? Hmm. Sun Wukong Vs Robot’s influences are obvious and while its a good game, its not especially orignal.

Sun Wukong Vs. Robot is a good looking game and it plays good. Although it feels like a very “been here, done this” type of game. It doesn’t really add anything new to the genre. If you like Metroidvanias though, you’ll probably like this one.
