Summer in Mara Coming This Month

Summer in Mara was originally a crowd funded title – which we backed on Indigogo in Canada. The game is a play on the Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons franchise, although probably resembles something like My Time at Portia from Team 17. Last week, the development teamed announced that people could play through the prologue on Steam. While we haven’t done that yet – waiting on our Switch review opportunity, check in next week! – others have.

Based on various YouTube videos, the early portions of the game look and sound fantastic. Even the opening cinematic hints at a deeper story than you would find in other farming / crafting style games. Next to Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons, this is one of my most anticipated games this year!

The game begins with typical fetch quests that will get you familiar with the controls of the games, and some of the early gathering and crafting mechanics that will be useful throughout. Despite being required to first gather oranges to make juice, the game does open up a number of different options right in your own garden, including the ability to harvest other vegetables, feed chickens, and more!

You will quickly learn about crop planting, tool upgrading, and so much more. You can watch the entire video above if you want a taste of Summer of Mara, or you can wait for the games official release on June 16th, on PC and Nintendo Switch. Version for the Xbox One and PS4 will be coming later this year.

If you are planning on picking this up, be sure to let us know! In our review, what types of things do you want to read about, or what tips do you want to know for getting started! We will have it all closer to launch, so stay tuned!
