More Thoughts From Me Special Edition: Stunning Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct
Oh wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow. WOW. Did I say Wow? Wow. Today’s Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct were stunning. I was just blown away by how many games were shown and the quality of the games. Yes, there were a couple of disappointments, but overall, I am so glad that I have an Xbox Series S. I can’t wait to play these games! Let’s talk about what I liked and what those disappointments were.
Today’s Xbox Showcase stunned me. I couldn’t believe how amazing it was. Right from the start, I was blown away. Three games in a row made me think: “How will they top this?!” I’m not sure if they topped it later but they did keep stunning with some cool games.
So what were the first three games? We saw Fable, which we had all hoped to see. It looked amazing. We didn’t get a release date for it but we did see really cool things. Then we saw a game called South of Midnight. This was a completely new game and it looked pretty amazing.
The game that absolutely floored me though? Ubisoft’s Star Wars game: Star Wars Outlaws. I knew Ubisoft was working on a Star Wars game but I had no idea that they were going to show it today. The game looks fantastic. I was just could not believe my eyes. It looked even better than the recent sequel to Fallen Order. Wow. I need it now. I have to watch Ubisoft’s walkthrough of the game tomorrow.
Of course, after these three games, we did see a lot of other cool games. The one that I was freaked out about, past the first three, was the Sea of Thieves/Monkey Island crossover game. Oh wow. I can’t wait to play that next month. It looked so good.
Other games like Clockwork Revolution, with its streampunk vibe and time bending abilities looked jaw dropping. I wasn’t big on the Microsoft Flight Sim at first but then I saw the Dune flying area. Whoa. I also liked how Avowed looked! Very Elder Scrolls like. So cool.
There were other impressive third party games too. We already had seen the new Persona games but I still loved seeing them again. I can’t wait to play Persona 5 Tactica. Atlus did save a suprise for the Showcase with Metaphor: ReFantazio! I thought this was a new Persona game at first but no, its a completely new game. And it looked very good!
A new game named Jusant also really impressed me. I can’t wait to try that one out.
There were so many games. I was happy this showcase. VERY HAPPY. However, there was one disappointment here. I was hoping that we’d see the Indiana Jones game. There was not a peep of that game. In fact, aside from Starfield, it doesn’t look like Bethesda has any other new game coming soon.
Oh but what about Starfield? What did I think of the Starfield Direct?
The Starfield Direct was amazing. This game looks incredible. I love all the different worlds and characters. The character creation looks fantastic. So does the ship creating! And combat in space and on land looks so good.
I just kept looking at everything with a stunned look on my face. The game is amazing but its also so overwhelming. There is so much to think about. Where do you even start with this game?
The collector’s edition for the game looks cool and so do the other extra things like the controller and headset. I know I’ll never have them though because they will be way too expensive. sigh. Oh well.
Starfield will be day one on Game pass and I can’t wait to play it.
That said, I was disappointed that a demo for the game wasn’t announced. I know, I know. How do you do a demo of a game thats this big? I’m not sure but I would’ve loved to have seen them try. I just want to play the game now! \
Overall, I was amazed and beyond happy about today’s Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct. It was 2hrs well spent. Wow.
Though, yeah, most of the stuff is coming in 2024. Microsoft really is putting most of their eggs in the Starfield basket this year. I think it’ll pay off though. The game might take the rest of the year (or more) to actually beat!
What do you think of the Xbox Showcase and the Starfield Direct? What was your favorite moment?
