E3 2021 – What Is Nintendo Preparing
The ESA organization, which is running the E3 gaming exhibition, announced the date of the event and the first participants on the official website. A detailed program with a list of participants by day was published on the official website of the event. The specific time is indicated there only for the start of the pre-show broadcast for each day, but when individual presentations start, it is not specified.
Nintendo is a usual participant in the exhibition (even though they refused it in 2020 along with many other companies). In that way, it makes sense to wait for something new and interesting from the company. It is already clear that they will present some of their new games.
While waiting for E3, we can remember once again why there are so many fans of Nintendo around the world. You can choose and download any of the Nintendo ROMs you like at Romsopedia. It would be great to play Super Mario 64 or The Legend of Zelda – Majora’s Mask again.
What Will We See This Year?
The following publishers will participate in E3 in 2021:
- Nintendo;
- Xbox;
- Konami;
- Capcom;
- Ubisoft;
- Take-Two Interactive;
- Warner Bros. Games;
- Koch Media.
Apparently, there are no companies in the schedule that hold presentations at the same time as the exhibition but do not formally participate in it. It will be possible to follow the broadcasts on social networks and on the E3 channels – on Twitter and Facebook, as well as on Twitch and YouTube. Seems like also there will some recollections and tributes to old nintendo games but these might be only gossips.
The organizers of E3 promised to present the rest of the partners later. Publishers like Sony, EA, Activision Blizzard, Sega, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix have yet to confirm their participation in the online show.
ESA stressed that E3 2021 will be free for all participants. Journalists from VGC previously reported that the organizers of the exhibition were considering the possibility of making it partially paid.
E3 2021 is the first Electronic Entertainment Expo to be held online. The organizers promised that the streams will also have interactive elements like leaderboards, access to which will be opened on the exhibition website and in the official app. In 2022, ESA expects to host E3 not online, but in a traditional format.
Nintendo Showcase
Nintendo is planning to present its novelties on the last day of E3. Their show starts at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET. We are waiting for the presentation of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and other projects, including Bayonetta 3 and Shin Megami Tensei V. The event will take place on the Nintendo Twitch channel.
The New Switch
Bloomberg sources say Nintendo plans to release an improved Switch model in September or October 2021, with production going to start in July. The official announcement of the updated Switch may take place at E3 2021 so that developers and publishers can present their games for the new console.
Nintendo is confident that it will be able to meet the demand for the device, despite the global shortage of components and chips. The company believes that in this regard it is better prepared than its competitors Microsoft and Sony, which could not fully meet the demand with the launch of the Xbox Series and PS5.
Nintendo’s ability to meet demand is not guaranteed, as the production of the current Switch version was already slowing down due to a lack of components. The official name of the updated Switch is still unknown. It will feature a 7-inch OLED display with a new chip from Nvidia, 4K support in stationary mode, and DLSS technology.
The improved Switch model will cost more than the original console and they plan to sell it alongside the Lite, while the production of the very first model will eventually cease.
What Nintendo Showed at E3 2019
Nintendo made its Direct presentation, starting with a joke about the conflict between the two Bowsers – the villain from the Super Mario series and Doug Bowser, the new president of Nintendo of America.
The main news was the presentation of new games from the company and games available on Nintendo consoles. Here is the list of the main things:

The turn-based game based on the Netflix series released in 2019.

Nintendo also released official art and screenshots for the game and shared details of the Collector’s Edition, which includes an art book and steelbook in the form of the original Game Boy.
