Uncharted 4 is Worth Buying a PS4 for
From the title, I am bound to get a lot of hate mail. But, considering what else is being offered on the PS4 at the moment, if you decide to buy one because of Uncharted 4 – knowing other games will also entice you – then you are making a great purchase. I just recently got mine, and as a life long Xbox fan, I can tell you I’m still thrilled with my purchase. Outside of the other exclusive PS4 game I’ve been playing – Ratchet and Clank and Tales of Zestiria – my PS4 was totally worth getting because of Uncharted 4.
When I say I’ve been a lifelong Xbox fan, it really is true. Nintendo is my first love, and that won’t change, but I’ve had an Xbox since the first day of the Original Xbox, and with my brothers, even took part in the Xbox Live beta program. Xbox has always been a phenomenal experience, but I have always sat by the wayside watching each Sony console hit the market without ever making the plunge and buying one. Sure, I’ve missed out on some great titles – Little Big Planet, Killzone, the previous Uncharted Titles, and more – but I never felt the desire. When I began investigating the review side of the PS4 – at GamesReviews we had almost exclusively focused on Nintendo and Microsoft – I knew that regarldess of whether or not I could secure review titles of the big Playstation titles, I wanted that system for Uncharted.
I’m not in the least bit disappointed. Uncharted 4 is everything I wanted it to be: it looks great, plays great, and has so much that keeps me moving from chapter to chapter. I care about the story and characters, I care about exploring the environments, and even surprising to myself, I care about finding the treasures. This is why I bought my PS4, and I’m so damn glad I did.
But now I get to enjoy the other offerings available on Playstation. I blew through Ratchet and Clank in a few days, and have been playing through the latest Tales of title in anticipation for next years next big launch. It is all worth it. I’ve never been a big fan of Sony in the past – mostly a controller thing – but now that I have a PS4 and have managed to use the controller with very few problems, I think it is possible that I may become a Sony fan for life. Who would have thought: it is possible to love Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony all at the same time. Gamers like myself are the real winners.
