Two New Short Trailers for Mario Strikers: Battle League

Nintendo doesn’t shy away from quietly dropping new trailers for upcoming games, and although the two posted yesterday combine for less than one minute of air time, they are still a welcome sight for those looking forward to the first Mario Strikers game in a very long time. With the game just a few weeks away, it’s time to take a deeper – and yet still brief – dive into more things the game will offer!

Mario Strikers: Battle League – So Much Fun It Hurts

In this first, short 30 second trailer, Mario and Peach are having a nice, relaxing afternoon on what we presume is a soccer pitch. Which makes getting hit with a soccer ball not that odd. Who knew laying on a pitch was a bad idea? Apparently Mario didn’t! The magical soccer ball ignited passion in the eyes of Mario and Peach, and it drove them to….OK, so it’s not that crazy, but it was a neat little intro none-the-less.

The core of the trailer was built around the idea that “Chaos Reigns Supreme.” And that’s pretty much the base, We see characters get bulled over by items, getting checked into electrical walls and getting zapped, and…this game is pretty violent, isn’t it! Guess what, the game is “So much fun, it hurts.” At least, according to Nintendo.

Mario Strikers: Battle League – Hyper Strikes

A second trailer dropped as well, and while I wonder why they didn’t just make them both one, here we are. In this much shorter look at the game, we get a quick inside look into Hyper Strikes, special shots each player can unleash, which, if successful, nets you two goals instead of one. Admittedly, special strikes – or special hits in Tennis, special shots in Golf – are my least favourite thing about Mario games, and generally turn them off if possible. Here is hoping I can do that here too!

Are you picking up Mario Strikers: Battle League? The game will be available at retail and on the Nintendo eShop on June 10th, 2022.
