More Thoughts From Me #220: Should I Stand by Final Fantasy 15?
I started playing Final Fantasy 15 last week and…quickly stopped playing it. I haven’t gotten back to it yet. I plan to go back to playing it but just haven’t done it yet. What did I think of what I played? Why haven’t I gone back to playing it yet? Let’s take a look at Final Fantasy 15!
When the song Stand by Me started playing in Final Fantasy 15, I knew I was in for a very different FF game. As a fan of the song, I smiled. But I wasn’t sure where this game was going or if I I’d like it.
I enjoyed driving around and exploring the world of FF15. I liked getting music from other FF games and playing it in the car. It was also cool that it had a pinball mini-game and a neat fishing mini-game too. There are a lot of good things about FF15. The graphics are definitely one of them.
Final Fantasy 15 is a beautiful looking game. Everything about it is so detailed and fantastic looking. It looks like a next-gen game.
But Final Fantasy 15 isn’t perfect. Its battle system is just ok. I think Final Fantasy 7 Remake had a far better action battle system. And so far 15’s story isn’t that great…
None of the characters in 15 has my attention yet and the game’s story is pretty slow. I remember liking both in FF15 Pocket but I guess that was the reader’s digest version of 15 on the PS4.
Worst of all is that I have not played Final Fantasy 15 is several days now. I was playing FF7R every single day, sometimes multiple times in one day. FF15 hasn’t grabbed my attention like that.
I want to go back to 15 because I still think there’s more to explore and find there. I want to see what other mini-games it has and what other music. I want to do more fishing. And I want to see if the story gets even better. Will I go back to the game though? I hope so.
What’s holding me back? Well I am playing a lot of Animal Crossing New Horizons. Its not just that though, I didn’t let that stop me with FF7R. I guess my lack of interest in the characters and story. And I’m on a story heavy part of the game, so I can’t go off and explore. FF15 is good but I have a feeing that its not as good as FF7R.
I still think its a far better game than FF13. Though thats not saying much…
What do you think of Final Fantasy 15? Do you think I should get back to the game?
Next week: I finally take a look at the Uncharted Collection!
More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Maybe I’ll go back to FF15 today…
