Lootaku May 2016 Unboxing
We have recently reached out to a number of subscription box companies – Loot Crate, Loot Gaming, 1 Up Box, Geek Fuel, and of course, Lootaku – and we will be reviewing each one, each month! Today, we are looking at the most expensive of all the boxes, Lootaku. Lootaku ships form Hong Kong and costs roughly 50 USD. The company promises premium items, which is why the box is a lot more expensive than the competitors. This month’s theme was Marvel Avengers, and while I wasn’t crazy about all the items in the box, I can see the value for huge superhero fans!
Avengers Age of Ultron Ultron Hero Remix Bobble Head
The Ultron Hero Bobble Head is pretty cool, and very large. This would be what Lootaku classifies as a premium item. In stores, this would sell for a lot more than a Funko Pop which is usually the ‘big ticket’ item in competitors boxes. I really like this bobble head, and the detail on it is pretty solid. While I would never pay 29.99 – suggested retail value – I do think there are big Ultron fans out there who would love to have this item in their collection. That price seems to be fairly consistent from most retailers online.
Marvel Mopeez Plush – Yellow Deadpool
The Marvel Mopeez Plushies from Funko are pretty great, and I would actually be interested in collecting as many of them as possible. At roughly 7-10 dollars each, it’s not outrageously expensive. Random plushies were inserted into each box – I saw someone get one from Guardians of the Galaxy for example – but I’m a fan of Deadpool. Although I would ideally like to receive a red Deadpool, I think this one is pretty neat. It will definitely have a place on my book shelf. Overall, this was a great item to get!
Infinity Gauntlet Molded Mug
This mug will definitely be a ‘love it or hate it’ item, but from my point of view, I love it! While I’m not sure I would ever actually use the mug for a hot beverate, it will make a really nice pen holder for my desk at work or at home. The suggest retail price according to Amazon is $20.00, which is roughly what Lootaku claimed it would be worth. Again, here is an item I probably would never buy myself, but I’m perfectly fine with it being included in my box of goodies!
Marvel Series 3 Blind Bag Figure Keychain
The key chain is pretty cool in theory, but has two major drawbacks. First, the actual item is much to heavy and bulky to be put on keys, and second, the item doesn’t have any ‘feet’ so you can’t even just stand it up to display. I received the Ultron key chain in my blind pack, and I love the look of it – unfortunately, I’m just not sure what I’ll do with it!
Funko Mystery Mini’s Action Figure Blind Pack
The last item in the pack was a small Funko action figure. I got Vision – who, as you will see in the video, I had no clue who he was. It’s a neat little toy, but I think at 7$ the price is a bit inflated. This is one of those items that my sun will ultimately play with and because of its small size, will never make my shelf of collectibles.
Conclusion
Overall, there are a lot of really nice items here, but some individuals will have a hard time justifying what they go for the roughly 50$ they spent. Regardless, I think anyone who gets this months box will at least break even in their own estimation, unless they really hate Marvel. For this being my first Lootaku box, I’m fairly impressed with what they are doing. The items included are definitly more impressive than other boxes, but they really need to be because of the premium price.
Next months box has me really excited as we head to Westeros in a Game of Thrones inspired box. I probably won’t care what they pack into it! I think it’s going to be outstanding! Make sure to get your orders in before the end of the month at lootaku.com.
