Totally Reliable Delivery Service – My Impressions
Nobody should take life (or themselves) too seriously, and nothing I have ever done has hammered this point home better than Totally Reliable Delivery Service. A parody of a physics simulator, Totally Reliable Delivery Service pits players against, well, themselves. And the laws of physics. Laws? More like – the loose guidelines of physics. While this may sound like a nightmare to some, when approached with the right attitude, this game can be the perfect way to unwind at the end of a long and stressful day (not that anyone is currently experiencing any of those!).
The deceptively simply controls of TRDS allow you to walk, jump, dive, lift your arms and grapple on to objects with either hand. BTW, let me know if you have ever complete a dive that serves a purpose OTHER than hilariously knocking yourself unconscious, because I know I haven’t. Using these controls, you must navigate your world and operate various vehicles to deliver packages where they need to go!
This simple concept is made more difficult – and WAY more fun – by the fact that the physics engine in the game is somewhat unpredictable and intentionally inaccurate. Carefully enjoying a drive to your latest destination? Better hope you dont try to turn while going downhill or before you know it both yourself, your car and your precious delivery are rolling out of control and into a ravine!
Did I mention you can also fly? With a bi-plane and helicopter at your disposal, some missions will even require you to complete mid-air deliveries to extremely inaccessible locations. Oh, and, seemingly at random, your package will occasionally be replaced by a bomb or other unstable material. These missions require the most precise movements (good luck!) and will almost certainly take multiple attempts.
So far, this game is definitely worth a few laughs with friends and I certainly feel the $15 price point is fair, considering how many laughs I have already had with it!
