Pony Farm Country Sets from Playmobil the Perfect Spring Toy Addition
As we move into the Spring and Summer months here in Canada, my wife and I begin looking at toys we can safely store outside – so plastic, preferably – and that my kids will enjoy using on the pavements, walking paths, and patches of lawn. While most indoor toys don’t particularly do well outside, we have found one brand that does – Playmobil. The newer Pony Farm Country sets available now at Playmobil.ca are ones we have our eyes on for this outdoor season!
Let’s take a look at some of the offerings, and what you can expect from this theme should you make a purchase yourself. We’ve gone through this list of sets and picked a few we are really excited about!
Pieces Included: Figures: 1 woman, 1 girl, 1 boy; Animals: 3 ponies, 2 cats, 2 mice, 1 swallow, 1 swallow-boy; Accessories: 1 stable with 2 boxes, 7 fence elements, 6 fence connections, 1 ladder, 1 carrying box, 1 bale of straw, 1 vegetable crate, 1 horse accessories set 6 parts, 2 buckets, 3 halters, 2 cords with handle, 1 rein, 1 small pond with flowers and bushes, 3 haystacks, 1 grain sack, 1 broom, 1 hay fork, 2 children’s riding helmets, 1 shovel, 1 rake, 3 apples, 1 set of tomatoes, 1 swallow’s nest, 2 turnips, 1 beetroot, 1 bundle of grass, 1 set of bandages
If you are going to start a Pony Farm you might need, well, a Pony Farm. This 79.99 set is packed full of things to play with, and makes the perfect shareable Playmobil set. Bang for buck, it’s probably the best item on this list. When paired with other compatible accessories like the 14.99 Fence Extension and the 23.99 Stable Extension, you get a pretty good starting setup for just over 100.00!
What we like the most about this set is how two-person+ friendly it is. Two-Person+ is a term we like to use when reviewing toys that denotes it as good for two people or more. So many toys today are focused on individual play, and while there are some sets below that obviously are not shareable on their own, we recommend this one if you have a few Playmobil aged kids!
Pieces Included: Figures: 1 woman, 2 children; Animals: 2 ponies, 1 bird; Accessories: 1 caravan, 1 stable, 1 staircase, 1 fence, 2 flower pots, 3 flower stands incl. flowers, 1 feed rake, 2 grass bundles, 1 hay bundle, 1 hay, 1 mattress, 1 table, 3 chairs, 3 cups, 3 bread boards, 1 fried egg, 1 pot, 2 helmets, 2 apples, 2 juice bags, 1 plant clip, 2 currycombs, 1 crop, 1 clutch, 1 shield, 2 sleeping bags.
For the same price as the set above, our second recommendation for the Pony Farm Country theme is the shelter with mobile home. Again, a fantastic set that is two-player+ friendly with multiple figures and lots of accessories to play with and love. And, although we haven’t actually played with this set ourselves, it does look like the trailer could be towed by vehicles with trailer hitches, should you own one of those. Combining Playmobil sets is one of our favourite things, so if that is an option, kudos to the development team on this!
The other thing we love about this set is how compact it is. While there are obvious items that can be removed from the mobile home and set out, you are really looking at three distinct “items”: the mobile home, the shelter, and the fence. For someone who dislikes having too many standalone items in a set – regardless of which toy brand – this is a huge plus for me!
Pieces Included: Figures: 1 man, 1 child; animals: 1 pony; Accessories: 1 off-road vehicle, 1 horse trailer, 1 halter, 1 reins, 1 cap
Let’s keep with the two-player+ friendly theme and talk about the Car with Pony Trailer. Again, having two figures means more than one person can enjoy this set, and although it’s not as shareable as the above two – as there is only one horse included here – there are two figures. But the reason why this one makes the list is not because of how shareable it is, but more because WE LOVE CARS!
Listen, like any good kid, mine enjoy things that move. And having a car and trailer to enjoy outside is going to be a huge plus for both of them. And at 62.99, this is a bit more affordable than the previous options we listed as favourites!
Pieces Included: Figures: 1 man, 1 child; Animals: 2 ponies, 1 foal, 1 otter, 2 ducks, 3 butterflies, 3 ducklings, 1 frog; Accessories: 1 river, 1 fence, 1 helmet, 1 backpack, 1 landing net, 1 boat, 1 flower incl. blossoms, 2 trees with greenery, 1 signpost, 1 halter, 1 rein
Time to get into a few cheaper options. While the Adventure Pony Ride doesn’t come with cool buildings or awesome vehicles, it will give you the basics of what you might expect from a Pony Farm Country theme. At only 32.99, there is still a lot of toy here to explore and enjoy. With a few ponies, two characters, and a host of accessories, there should be hours of enjoyment here for a relatively inexpensive entry fee.
While I’m not crazy about the way this set lays out when you play, it does allow kids imginations to run wild in ways that the Shelter with Mobile Home or the Pony Farm just don’t. Watching my kids use their imagination while playing with Playmobil is one of my favourite things to witness!
There are plenty more sets for you to look at and enjoy from this collection. You can find more by following this link, and let us know on Twitter which sets you are excited to check out!
