High School Was Never This Weird: A Look At Super Daryl Deluxe for Nintendo Switch

Daryl is not your average high school student. There’s something strange about the new kid at school. Even his fellow students recognize how weird Daryl is, although I’m not sure why they do because the other students are just as strange if not more so. Welcome to the world of Super Daryl Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. In this game, you’ll fight, level up, explore a high school, and find yourself in increasingly odd situations! Super Daryl Deluxe is unlike anything else you’ll find on the Switch. Here is my preview of the game.

Super Daryl Deluxe is a very interesting game. Based on preview videos and pictures, you may think that this game is just a strange looking fighting game. There is a bit more to Super Daryl Deluxe though than just being strange or being a fighting game.

Super Daryl Deluxe takes place in a high school. The game’s graphics are extremely unique, with a lot of it in black and white with splashes of color here and there. This game is, without a doubt, one of the most unique games I’ve seen on the Nintendo Switch and not just because of the graphics! The gameplay in Super Daryl is more than what you’d expect.

On the surface, Super Daryl Deluxe seems like a side scrolling fighting game in the style of Double Dragon or in more recent history, Scott Pilgrim Saves the World. There is a bit more to Super Daryl Deluxe though.

Daryl gets to walk around his high school, talking to follow students, fighting them, leveling up, acquiring skills, and more. Super Darly Deluxe is an action rpg at its heart. There’s just so much to do in this game. Don’t forget to save in the bathroom whenever you can!

Wait. What? Save in the bathroom? Yes, you heard me right! Daryl has to go to the bathroom to save. The urinal will quick save your game and the stall will save your game for good. There is a flushing sound after you save. Daryl’s method of saving isn’t the only strange thing you’ll encounter in this game.

Super Daryl Deluxe doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are many weird things to do: go on a quest to bury a dead rat, steal lunch money from a fellow classmates locker, go to your locker to equip skills and buy new ones from another locker. More and more things open up as you complete quests. I’m nowhere near the end of this game. I can’t wait to see what else you can do in Super Daryl Deluxe!

I’m having so much fun with this game. Super Daryl Deluxe is an extremely unique game. I look forward to playing more of it.
