Yoshi’s Crafted World Not Just a Cutesy Kids Game
As we work towards the launch of Yoshi’s Crafted World, we continue our preview coverage by looking at something that has often plagued Yoshi titles in the past, whether fairly or unfairly. For the longest time, Yoshi titles have been pegged as ‘cutesy kids games’ by many in the gaming industry, and while that is often not true at all, it is still the label the game gets painted with.
And sure, if I look back over the levels I’m allowed to cover and assess how hard each one was, to get form point A to point B, I’d say the difficulty level was fairly low. After all, at it’s simplest, Yoshi’s Crafted World is all about dodging enemies, solving simple puzzles, and making it to the end. So is it simple? Sure. Is it easy to master? Sure. Is it easy to fully complete? Not in the slightest.
Getting everything in each level for Yoshi’s Crafted World will be incredibly difficult, and only the best players will make those difficult jumps, or note that background item that looks just a bit different then the rest. What Nintendo has done with this title, in my opinion, is made it universally accessible to all gamers, young and old. My 5 and 9 year old sons are having as much fun with this title as I am.
And really, that is what makes Nintendo so fantastic. They are always innovating, always working to bring all gamers, young and old, under one tent. Other developers should take notes: this is the future of what gaming should be.
Kudos to you Nintendo. You deserve it.
