The Carina D1S Charging Dock for the Meta Quest 3S – Review

The Carina D1S Charging Dock for the Meta Quest 3S was something I didn’t know I needed. As with most of my gadgets, I’m usually fine just plugging them in on a side table or under my entertainment stand, and while it was messy and chaotic, it “worked.” When we got our hands on the Carina D1S Charging Dock however and began to put it through its paces, we were quite impressed.

The packing is phenomenal and before you even begin to use the product, you feel like you’ve just received a very premium product for a good price. And you should feel that way – The Meta Quest 3S is a premium device, and deserves the best when considering third party accessories. The charger itself has a beautiful white finish just like the headset, and has charging spits for the headset and the two controllers as well. It’s all provided in a nice tight package as well, so the footprint of the product is relatively small.

Included with the package are rechargeable batteries that slot into the handheld controllers. This is how the device charges the controllers as well as the headset. I’ve seen very cheap third party charging docks for many of the various Meta Quest products and so many of them do not include controller charging. Again, really nice to see that here.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “It’s the little things in life?” It took me a few days, but as I was looking over the charging dock I noticed a little USB-C charge port on the dock, and was surprised to find that it could be used as an additional charger. Now your standard charging dock for any device rarely has this additional feature. Afterall, the design team behind the product should only design their product to fulfill its purpose, right? That is apparently NOT what the design team behind the Carina D1S Charging Dock thought. They thought, “who wouldn’t want to charge their phone while also charging their headset to save room?” Or perhaps, “people like to use headsets while they play games, so why not offer this port to charge a headset at the same time they charge their device.”

It is forward thinking like this that sets this product apart from the competition. It does everything you need it to do, and does it well. But it also adds a few extra quality of life features that you probably are not going to find on other devices. This device is incredibly efficient in what it does. As we noted earlier, we love the small form factor and how little space it actually takes up when in use. And it charges the headset at an incredible rate, meaning you’ll be back up and gaming as soon as possible.

Here are the key features as outlined by the design team:

  • FlexiDock Charging Solution: A magnetic, adjustable vertical pin enables effortless charging without the need for precise alignment, making charging intuitive and stress-free.
  • SB-C Port Free Convenience: A dedicated USB-C port on the adapter allows connection to external devices without removing the dock connector, ensuring ease of use.
  • Super-Fast Charging: The dock fully charges the Quest 3S headset in about two hours and the controllers in six hours, providing rapid readiness for the next adventure.
  • Nest Bionic Charging Design: Inspired by nature, this compact and elegant design supports simultaneous charging and organized storage, perfectly suited for VR enthusiasts.
  • Comprehensive Safety Protections: Equipped with over-current, over-voltage, overheat, and overcharge protection, ensuring reliability and safety during every charge.
  • Stress-free Compatibility: Compatible with PrismXR Controller Grips. Broadly compatible with elite-type and halo-type straps, aftermarket facial covers, anti-leakage nose pads, and shell covers.

Although this review of the Carina D1S Charging Dock is a sponsored article, I could not be more impressed with the device. So much so that I have a friend who also owns a Meta Quest S3 and I won’t hesitate to purchase a unit of this myself for him. This is a great product, and one that should NOT be overlooked!
