Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC First Thoughts
I’ve been a fan of the Castlevania games since the NES days. When Dead Cells announced that they were doing DLC based around Castlevania, well, I had to have it. So I got Dead Cells and then I waited for the DLC. And now that I’ve played, what do I think? Here are my thoughts on the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC!
I only recently got Dead Cells and thought it was pretty cool. I had to turn the difficulty down a bit and let the game save a bit more. I’m glad this option was put in the game for those of us who want to just have fun with the game and not worried about being challenged. So of course, I had to turn the difficulty down on the Return to Castlevania DLC too. Otherwise, I’d barely ever see any of it.
The Return to Castlevania DLC is pretty tough normally. I’m playing it on very easy mode. Its a lot of fun. I love all the callbacks to the Castlevania games: enemies, allies, weapons, and of course the settings (Dracula’s castle!).
That said, the DLC does still play more like Dead Cells. And that is not a bad thing at all. Dead Cells is pretty fun. I do wish I had whip so I could recreate Castlevania a bit more. I hear that there is a secret character to find in the DLC and I hope I find him! I’m looking forward to playing the DLC even more. Its fun to revisit Castlevania within the Dead Cells universe. Still. I would absolutely love it if Konami let this developer create a new 2D Castlevania game. I bet they would do really great job at it.
What do you think of the Return to Castlevania DLC?
