Aria of Sorrow ROM Preview

Konami is a developer known for releasing incredible games, and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is no exception. Aria of Sorrow is the third installment of the Castlevania franchise available as a Game Boy Advance ROM. The game has been hailed by players as one of another fantastic installment in the series, but many find the game to be a little on the easy side.

There is a lot to love in the Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow ROM. First off, it is hands down more in-depth than any other game in the series. It maintains the core of what makes Castlevania arguably one of the best RPGs of all time but positively adds to the game. In aria of sorrow rom, you are given a ton of earned abilities that are earned through defeating the various monsters throughout the game.

One of the best changes fans have noticed in Aria of Sorrow is the storyline. The traditional Castlevania story tends to be Dracula has returned, and you must kill him. Where this game is takes on a completely new approach with much more in-depth character development. Personally, I found one of the best parts of the Aria of Sorrow ROM to be the character Soma Cruz. I found him to be overall a much more engaging character than any we have seen in the past.

Another addition to Aria of Sorrow that I found to be interesting was the “sleep mode.” Sleep mode isn’t actually a mode where your character sleeps. It’s a way for you to save your game at any time. This is helpful if you have to stop playing at that moment, but you can’t find a save point. The best part about this is, Konami designed it so the player can’t abuse the system. Your quick save is deleted as soon as you resume your game.

Aria of Sorrow also features an all-new soul system. This system always the player to capture the monsters’ souls you kill and use it as power. You spend the souls on your character’s abilities, such as bullet soul, guardian soul, or enchanted souls. Each one of these abilities will help give you the edge on whatever creature or boss you are fighting. Bullet soul will give the player the ability to perform attacks such as throwing an axe or breathing fire. Enchanted souls will also help you boost up specific stats. This system makes stumbling upon enemies to be quite rewarding and is a welcomed addition to the series.

Overall, Aria of Sorrow is a fantastic addition to the franchise following Symphony of the Night. I can see specific types of fans maybe not being as interested in the mechanics featured in Aria of Sorrow, but in my opinion, this absolutely a must-play Castlevania game. It’s honestly my favorite Castlevania ROM that has been released on the Game Boy Advance. If you’re looking for a new Castlevania ROM to try out, then you have to give the Aria of Sorrow ROM a try!
