The Upcoming Games to Look Forward to in 2021
2020 saw releases of some of the biggest games in recent years, whether you think of Cyberpunk 2077, Fall Guys or Call of Duty: Warzone. With this being said, 2021 is bringing with it a number of games that are looking to one up the releases of the previous year. All in all, there are hundreds of games being released throughout the year, with some of them being the most highly anticipated titles of recent memory.
On top of the amazing 2021 games lineup, the gaming industry as a whole is seeing huge growth – recently, Twitch and YouTube gaming viewers are constantly reaching all time highs, esports earners are making more than ever, and new consoles have been almost entirely sold out since their launches.
When it comes to the games you need to keep an eye on, here are some of the most highly anticipated games to look forward to in 2021.
Halo: Infinite
First on the list is another addition to a franchise that is an all time favorite amongst the gaming community – Halo: Infinite is the sixth main installment within the Halo series, the first of which was released back in 2001.
Infinite was originally planned for release back in November of 2020 – after plenty of delays and problems with development, the game has since been pushed back for what is reportedly going to be a late 2021 release – close to 20 years after the release of the first Halo installment.
The story of Halo Infinite began with planning as far back as 2015 – as we finally approach its launch date, gamers of all ages are preparing to spend hours and hours playing through the latest and greatest Master chief story. Halo is one of the highest grossing media franchises of all time, and if that is anything to go by, Halo Infinite is going to be a must buy.
Deathloop
Another highly anticipated 2021 game that takes a more indie approach to design, development and overall experience is Deathloop. Given that the game is developed by Arkane Studios (most known for the creation of the Dishonoured series), gaming fans appear to have high expectations – luckily, Arkane Studios have yet to disappoint.
In the game, you’ll get to play as Cult, an assassin stuck in a time loop. The game has a unique mix of stealth, action and agility that is reminiscent of Dishonoured, and appears to do a good job in taking these game mechanics into the 2021 gaming world.
The game is set for release in May of 2021 on PlayStation 5 and PC – the console exclusivity of Deathloop is under a one-year timed deal. In addition to development by Arkane Studios, Deathloop is being published by Bethesda Softworks – the publishers behind games like The Elder Scrolls series and the Fallout series.
Hitman 3
Now for another addition to the Hitman series – Hitman 3 is a 2021 game that is already getting insanely strong reviews. Developed and published by IO Interactive, many are claiming that Hitman 3 is the best game in the long running series.
As the name suggests, players will get to take the place of a genetically engineered hitman called ‘Agent 47’ – taking a stealthy approach to assassinations all over the world (you’ll get to play in a number of locations including Berlin, Dubai, and Romania), you’ll even get to play in VR (If you have PlayStation VR).
IGN have already said that Hitman 3 is amazing, giving the game a strong 9/10 score. In addition to this, the vast majority of gaming reviewers and critics have given similarly strong scores, and even casual gamers are giving Hitman 3 praise. If the reception of this game is anything to go by, Hitman 3 is a must have.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake
While this list could go on forever, the final game that you need to check out is the new remake of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.
This is a game that was originally released back in 2003, and at the time was widely praised – it won numerous awards, and even now is considered by many to be one of the greatest video games of all time . As of today, the original has sold over 14 million copies.
The remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is scheduled for release in March 2021 – while it can’t be ignored that the trailer of this remake did get mixed reactions, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is undoubtedly one of the 2021 games that come release date, no gamer will be willing to write off. Whether for nostalgia or a completely new gaming experience, make sure you keep an eye out for this remake of one of the best games ever made.
