The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II – Launch Trailer

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II is out now. Check out the launch trailer for the game along with some thoughts from us on the game.

We received a review code for The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 for Nintendo Switch and while our review isn’t ready yet, we can share some early thoughts on the game.

Early on, Trails through Daybreak 2 focuses a lot on its story and its a bit confusing. There is a recap of the first game but even with that, we’re not really sure what is going on in this game. There’s some kind of attack and the main characters are investigating it. All of the main characters know each other already and playing this game without playing the first game is like being thrown into the middle of a story. And it takes forever until you finally get into combat…

The best part of this game so far is definitely the combat. Trails through Daybreak 2’s combat is a mix of real time and turn-based combat. You start out just slashing at your enemy but can enter into turn-based combat to hit your enemy harder. The real time combat is pretty simple, yet fun. And the turn-based combat is fantastic. There are lots of cool abilities to use against enemy and the combat transitions quickly between real-time to turn-based combat and then back to exploring.

The dungeons in this game seem pretty simple right now but exploring them is fun and the combat keeps things exciting. You also explore the game’s city a lot but hats not as fun as the dungeons.

We have mixed feelings about The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 so far. The story isn’t that interesting and the dialogue also goes on way too long. And yet the combat and dungeon exploring are pretty cool. Hopefully the story will get better or at least get out of the way of the cooler elements.

Please stay tuned for our full review!
