Loot Crate – February 2017

If you love Power Rangers, you will love the latest Loot Crate box. While the main theme revolved around those awesome men in colourful suits, there was a far amount of LEGO thrown in as well, making this one of the better Loot Crate boxes we have got in the last couple months. Lets dive in!

Power Rangers Galore!

I’m not a huge Power Rangers fan, but I fully understand the impact that franchise has had on millions of people; this makes it an obvious choice to theme a box around, and I believe this is a very smart decision by Loot Crate. The main item in every box is the tShirt, and while I usually save it for the end – as I generally always like the shirt – I thought leading off with the shirt this time would be the best for two reason. 1) I’m not a huge fan of the shirt – the design is fine, but again, not really a Power Rangers guy; and 2) This is the centerpiece of this box!

Power Rangers tShirt

As far as designs go, this is a wonderful shirt. I actually really love when these subscription boxes put in tShirts that look like blueprints – trust me, it happens way more than you would think. It’s a unique way to showcase a franchise without just slapping the logo in the middle and calling it a day. This design has been well thought out, and when I look at the shirt – or others look at it – they appreciate the artists work. It’s not just another “Power Rangers branded item.” It’s art, and it is brilliant!

Power Rangers Pin

Cosmixology is a popular application for iPhone and Android that allows people to buy and read a variety of different comics. It’s a brilliant platform, and has grown exponentially since its launch. This months Loot Pin code will grant subscribers three Power Ranger comics to add to their collection. It is either a way to expand your Cosmixology library, or perhaps, to start it!

Everything is Awesome!

The second theme you’ll see in this months box is LEGO items, playing off the unbelievable success of the LEGO Dimensions franchise and the recent LEGO Batman movie. The first item, a fun pack from the LEGO Dimensions franchise, will only be beneficial if you own the LEGO Dimensions game. Otherwise, it’s just a very, VERY small LEGO set and it’s value to the box would be severely diminished.

I love the LEGO Dimensions franchise, and thanks to Warner Bros Canada, we have had the opportunity to review most of the packs that have ever come out. Sadly, all the available pack ins for this months box – Wonder Women, Space Man Benny, Bad Cop, Unikitty, and the Cyborg – are all ones currently in my collection, but I do always like the extra LEGO pieces. If you collect LEGO, perhaps the value of this item increases, but if you have no interest, you might be fairly disappointed with this item.

But let’s get real: who doesn’t love LEGO?

LEGO Batman Head Container

The recent LEGO Batman Movie has been incredibly successful, and was a great movie to watch. Loot Crate is playing off that success my including a LEGO Batman head container for all your cookie or candy needs. The inside of the head is actually pretty small, which was slightly disappointing, but I managed to head out to my local candy store, buy a ton of LEGO brick candy, and stuff them inside. Even without using the container as it is intended, it is a pretty nice item to just put on your desk!

Conclusion

I’ve said this multiple times, but even when I don’t enjoy all the franchises in the box, I find a way to love the box anyways. The LEGO items were a home run for me, and although I’m not a fan of Power Rangers, I think the design of the shirt is phenomenal, and the pin looks awesome on my messenger tote bag. There is always value in a Loot Crate, and this month was evidence of that again.
