Hello Kitty Island Adventure First Thoughts

Hello Kitty Island Adventure came out at the end of last month and I’ve been wanting to play it ever since. Yesterday, I received a review code for the game and I started to play it. Here are my first impressions of Hello Kitty Island Adventure on Nintendo Switch!

A cat says, Oh you're awake! Hi there, I'm Hello Kitty. She is on an airplane and welcoming you to the game.

Hello Kitty welcomes you to the game!

At the beginning of Hello Kitty Island, you choose what you want your character to look like. I chose a dog with big floppy ears and a black & white color scheme. He’s really cute! I won’t spoil the rest of the opening though. Its pretty neat.

After you get to the Island, you are quickly asked to do some favors. There’s a lot of item deliveries early on. You’ll be running about the place meeting your new neighbors and doing a lot for them. The game was addictive for me right away!

Hello Kitty Island Adventure has a charm and cuteness thats infectious, thanks to its adorable graphics and its fun gameplay. The dialogue is really well done and often funny. You get a lot of rewards in this game for things that you do and some of them are very cool. And the island is huge! My favorite area I’ve seen so far is the Spooky Swamp where there’s a haunted mansion and a haunted Minecraft ride that you have to fix. Lots of fun.

I also unlocked fishing which is fun and while not as simple as Animal Crossing, its not too hard either. I will definitely become addicted to it.

A cute dog stands in front of a house. A weird chick like creature in an egg is nearby.

This cute black and white dog is the character that I control

I’m liking Hello Kitty Island Adventure a lot so far. Though I’ve noticed two negative aspects so far.  The game does have some item pop-ins occasionally. Its not a big deal though. Perhaps a little more annoying is the framerate slow-down, which makes the game pause every now and then. Neither of these issues break the game or take away from my enjoyment but they are noticeable issues. Hopefully future patches will help improve them, especially the framerate.

I’ve only had this game for a little bit and already I can’t wait to keep playing it for hours and days on end. Hello Kitty Island Adventure has a lot of the things I love in a game: cute, cozy sim fun with fishing, neighbor interaction and lots more.

I will definitely be writing about this game again very soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks to Forty Seven for providing a digital code to us. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is now available on the Nintendo Switch eshop.
