Over the past few weeks, we have been taking the Creative SXFI Gamer Headset through its paces, and we are pleasantly surprised by what Creative is doing yet again. Can anything stop this company from providing stellar audio experiences? Let’s take a look!
A couple of years ago, Creative launched its Super X-Fi line of audio accessories that took the world by storm. Their superior audio quality and surround sound experience left us absolutely speechless. Last year, they released SXFI Gen2, which was an improved and expanded version that incorporated high accuracy in personalized profiles, more configuration options, better audio positioning and more. All of these features have been packed into the SXFI GAMER headset, which offers the same incredible audio experience paired with a professional-grade microphone and stylish RGB lighting design.
The folks at Creative didn’t stop there, however, as the SXFI GAMER introduces BATTLE Mode, which is a uniquely-crafted sound profile that comes pre-loaded and is perfectly optimized for FPS games. With groundbreaking levels of environmental imaging, audio cues, distance projection and directionality, the SXFI GAMER is the ultimate weapon for any competitive gamer. Of course, it manages all of this without compromising the top-tier audio fidelity associated with the SXFI lineup. We’ve used them for well over a month, and we are blown away.
While we always prefer Creatives wireless and bluetooth options, the wired connection here is perfect for PC gaming.
Besides the award-winning holographic audio experience, what truly sets this headset apart from the competition is that it is paired with an equally impressive microphone. The CommanderMic has a completely new, acoustic design that includes an inegrated pop filter and Creative’s latest inPerson microphone technology, which uses a proprietary algorithm for noise suppression and enhanced speech pick-up.

Wired for simplicity and reliability, the SXFI GAMER has a Kevlar-reinforced USB cable, meaning it is all but indestructible against regular wear and tear. With no batteries required, there is no reason not to enjoy the customizable RGB lighting designs on each earcup, which both enjoy a full-spectrum 16.7 million colour options.

During our time with the device, we marveled at not only the sound quality – which Creative always nails! – but also the build quality. We’ve never had issues with Creative products in the past, but it seems that each new release comes with a superior build quality to the last. This headset is ultra comfortable, and while I generally prefer the duel headband approach that other ocmpanies use, the SXFI Gamer was still very comfortable over long gaming stretches. The most comfortable in the industry? Perhaps not, but when you weigh pretty good comfort but superior audio against amazing comfort with average audio…well…the chouce is pretty obvious, in our opinion.
