Pokémon Legends: Arceus Review-in-progress
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the latest game in the long running franchise. This one is a bit different though. We are still playing through Arceus so our review isn’t ready yet but lets take a look at what makes this Pokémon game so different in our review-in-progress!
Pokémon Legends: Arceus just came out on Friday. I’ve been playing though it and one thing is very clear so far: this game is very different from Brilliant Diamond and Sword!
Yes, Arceus is still a turn-based rpg. You still catch Pokémon. However, this game is also an action rpg!
Out of battle, Pokémon will attack you. The game keeps telling you that Pokémon are terrifying creatures and its true. It so very true. The bosses, especially, are super scary and many of them are hard. This has to be the toughest Pokémon game I’ve played so far.
Remember, I’m a newbie and only ever played Sword and Brilliant Diamond before this. Pokémon Legends makes you work a bit more in and out of battle: catching Pokémon in the field (and in battles), dodging enemies, and taking part in turn-based battles. Its all pretty fun too, despite the higher challenge!
Pokémon Legends’ unique combination of turn-based and action gameplay is not the only thing that makes it different from other Pokémon games though.
While Pokémon Legends is not an open world game, it does feels like one. The areas you visit are huge and there’s lots to see in them. Not only that but the weather changes and new side quests will appear as you progress. This game is not Breath of the Wild but its still pretty impressive.
That said, there seems to be only one town in this game! Sword and Brilliant Diamond had a ton. It is disappointing there are not more towns but you’ll find a lot to do in this town: side quests, shops to visit, and more. In fact, the whole game will provide you with as many extra challenges as you want to take on.
Arceus offers a huge world to explore, lots of Pokémon to catch, and tons of fantastic side quests, mini-games, and battles. It is so easy to get lost in this wonderful game.
I’ll continue playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus and have a full review of the game later this week!
