More Thoughts From Me Special Edition: Xbox Developer Direct Impresses
Xbox had a Developer Direct today. I checked it out and now have some thoughts on it.
I’m a huge fan of the Xbox Series X/S. I love the system. And this year, Xbox has a lot of cool looking games coming. So of course I was excited for today’s Developer Direct. What did I think of it? Well, yeah I loved it. Let’s talk more about that.
First of all, the Direct started with a surprise game: Ninja Gaiden 4. While I thought the game looked good and I’m sure people will be excited for it, this one didn’t interest me that much. I find the Team Ninja Ninja Gaiden game’s way too hard for me. Plus I’m not a fan of extreme gore in video games. So this one is a pass for me (and no not a GAME PASS. ha ha), but it was still a neat surprise.
The game I was looking forward to seeing the most was the second game shown! South of Midnight looks more and more amazing every time I see it. Its my most anticipated game of 2025 so far. It finally has a date of April 8th, 2025. So we don’t have very long to wait for this stunning looking game. Everything about it: graphics, gameplay, story, the world has me really excited.
That said, the game that had my jaw on the floor the most during this Direct was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game’s story is dark but also unlike any other game out there. It looks like a stunning fantasy/sci-fi movie. And I’m a huge turn-based rpg fan, so I love that its in that genre. Plus it mixes in real time elements. The most exciting reveal for me? The game is a WORLD MAP. I love world maps. Thats something you don’t see in rpgs much anymore, especially ones with graphics like Clair Obscur. I really want to explore this amazing world. I also like the cool and unique mode of travel. Wow. This game amazed me.
Then there was Doom The Dark Ages. I have to say I wasn’t really into the game at first. It was super dark and bloody. I don’t know. Not really my type of thing. Then it showed that you could get into a GIANT mech and fight GIANT enemies. Oh my god. That looked so cool. Not only that, but you get a frelling DRAGON and can fly around with it causing mayhem. WOW. As soon as those two things were shown, I was like “Yep, this game looks awesome.” An open world Doom game. Sign me up!
I have to admit after Doom, I was hoping there would be one more announcement. There wasn’t. That was a bit disappointing. Overall though, it was a fantastic Developer Direct. The game’s they showed mean that Xbox is going to be a fantastic year.
What do you think of the Developer Direct? Which game’s will you get?
More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I wish I could play Clair Obscur right now!
