More Thoughts From Me #204: The Jedi Have Fallen

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was on my list of favorite games of 2019. I didn’t get to write a dedicated column for it after I got it last year though. So now I’m doing just that. This column is all about why I think Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best Star Wars games we’ve gotten in years! And of course one of my favorite games of 2019.

Its been awhile since I’ve wanted to play a Star Wars game so bad. The Star Wars Battlefront games look neat but I’ve never felt like I had to rush out and buy one of them. I’d much rather play a single player Star Wars game. So when Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was announced, I freaked out. The game looked so good! And you know what, it is so good!

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single player Star Wars game set in the time right after Revenge of the Sith. The Jedi order has fallen and the Sith are hunting down Jedis. The player is a Jedi called Cal and he has been hiding out. He gets drawn back into the world of Jedis and Sith and the Empire though and finds himself planet hopping, basically going from one dangerous situation to the next.

Jedi Fallen Order is very much an action game but it does have some really cool exploration elements. Think Uncharted but set in the Star Wars universe. Your character has a lightsaber and cool Jedi force powers. Though he also finds himself going to underground tombs, fighting off stormtroppers, and running on walls. Wait. That sounds more like Prince of Persia. Yes, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order has a bit of Prince of Persia in its blood too.

The gameplay in Jedi is so much fun. That said, the story is no slacker and it feels like a big budget Star Wars movie or maybe a big budget Disney+ Star Wars show. And everything from the game’s score to its graphics to its sound effects are what you’d expect out of a high quality Star Wars game!

If you love Star Wars and you haven’t played Jedi Fallen Order yet, get to it! This game is fun and its Star Wars mixed with Uncharted and Prince of Persia. Its a complete blast.
