PS4 release date being revealed tomorrow
Sony have confirmed that they will be announcing the release date of the PlayStation 4 tomorrow at 6pm CET at Gamescom in Germany.
Rumours of the much anticipated PS4 release date have been circulating these past couple months. October 21st is the leading rumour at the moment, and it’s a very reasonable guess. Other possibilities include early December and late November.
Some time in October would be a full month ahead of the Xbox One’s November 29th release and would go a long way to cement the PS4 as the console of choice for many gamers eager to experience next-gen as soon as possible.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 released more than a year before PS3 and is widely considered to be the main reason Sony struggled to compete with the console in sales. Although the PS3 did eventually close that gap and even surpassed the 360, it took them 6 years to reach that point. If Xbox One releases a month later and to only 13 countries worldwide, Sony will be sitting pretty comfortably next-gen.
Of course, Sony could end up shocking us all tomorrow and announce a sizeable delay to the release date. It’s unlikely, but possible nonetheless.
