More Thoughts From Me: Mickey Is Epic Again
I played Epic Mickey on the Wii and liked it a lot. And now the game is on the Nintendo Switch. What do I think of it on the system? Let’s talk about Epic Mickey Rebrushed!
Epic Mickey originally appeared on the Nintendo Wii. I believe it was exclusive to the system and didn’t appear anywhere else. It featured Wii remote controls for the paint and thinner aspects of the game. It was a fun game despite some minor performance issues and I enjoyed what I played of it a lot.
Fast forward to now, Epic Mickey Rebrushed is on the Nintendo Switch (and other systems). I got the game recently as a very early Christmas gift. I was so excited to play this game!
So did it live up to my hype?
Epic Mickey Rebrushed is so good. The graphics are even better than what they were on the Wii. The game has been fully remade and it looks really good in portable mode. I also love the new controls: you don’t have to use motion controls anymore for this game and I think it plays a lot better without them. The whole paint and thinner mechanic is still very addictive.
I also still love the old school platforming levels in this game. I’m enjoying this game a lot.
That said, the game does have some minor framerate issues, especially when the game auto-saves you’ll see a stutter. It doesn’t negatively affect the gameplay thankfully. I just wish there were no issues at all with this game.
Overall, Epic Mickey Reburshed is a gem. I’m not reviewing it but if I was, I’d give it a high score. Everything from the characters to the story to the environments, graphics and gameplay shines. The framerate issues are really the only thing that holds it back from being a perfect game. I’m so glad Epic Mickey is on the Nintendo Switch!
Here’s hoping Epic Mickey 2 gets on the Switch too. Honestly my biggest hope is that we see more Epic Mickey games or…hey…I’d love to see that Epic Donald game!
I’m not sure if any of that will happen. It seems doubtful. I’m just really happy to have the first Epic Micky for my Switch and can’t help but hope for more.
