Animal Photographer Playmobil Review

It’s been a few minutes since our last Playmobil review, but that doesn’t mean my youngest hasn’t had his many Wiltopia animals out on the floor week in and week out. As his animal collection has grown, he’s been pining for more and more Wiltopia animal sets. We bought a few ourselves, but Playmobil was nice enough to send over another smaller set, the Animal Photographer.

This set is based on a watering hole in Africa, and includes a number of Zebra animals, one we haven’t had in the past! I think this set borders on the silly since it also includes a complete Zebra suit for the figure to wear. I guess this is how they blend in with the other zebras and snap those photos?

The weathering hole piece is really good – I’m glad it’s one solid piece and not a ton of little water plants loose that you just put around the area you want to be your watering hole – this is an actual watering hole, with a blue plate to represent the water, and a nice little grass area that includes a number of different plants, including a small tree. Also included in this set is both a large and small zebra, a figure with a zebra costume, and a really cool camera with a large lens for taking fantastic photos.

On its own, there is nothing that impressive about this set. It’s fairly inexpensive comparative to other Wiltopia sets, and gives a good amount of items for playability. But the set really shines when mixed in with the wider Wiltopia sets. We’ve added this watering hole with numerous other animals we own, including the African elephant, giraffes, and more. Once you get this mixed in with the larger theme, it’s such a great addition and really makes the play area so much more enjoyable. Now your Animal Photographer isn’t just taking pictures of zebras – he’s taking pictures of all the African animals!

Also included in the set are a number of photographs, a brief case, and a fantastic safari hat! This might be one of the smaller sets we have reviewed, but one we love none-the-less. On it’s own it leaves a bit to the imagination, but with other sets it really expands the opportunity for play!
