Castaway is now available on Nintendo Switch. And thanks to the publisher, I received a review code for the game yesterday. Here are our first thoughts:
In Castaway, your character crashes lands from space onto a beach. He grabs a sword and then goes to explore the surrounding area and a nearby dungeon. This is only one of two modes in the game. This story mode is pretty short, in fact, I beat it last night, and a second mode unlocks.
I played the story mode on invincible difficulty, meaning I couldn’t die. There’s also pacifist mode where you don’t fight and a couple other modes. I will be checking out the game on difficulties. In invincible mode, the game was pretty easy though did still offer some challenges with minor puzzles. The game plays a lot like a Zelda game. Its a short fun experience.
Meanwhile the second mode to unlock is a tower mode. In this mode, you’ll explore 50 floors of a tower. Along the way, you’ll upgrade your character to, hopefully, make the experience better. Its a neat mode but I got nine floors in, died, and had to go back to the beginning1 Will you have to beat this mode with no save at all? We’ll see!
I still want to play the game so more and plan to have the review up early next week. Stay tuned.
