Crash Team Rumble
Do you like Crash Bandicoot? Have you wanted to see him in a non-platformer game? Well, Crash Team Rumble is a very different take on the franchise! Is it any good? Here is our review of Crash Team Rumble for the Xbox Series.
Crash Team Rumble is a 4 versus 4 online multiplayer only game where your team fights against another team to get the most points. It has a battle season pass like Fortnite. Unlike Fortnite or other games like it, Crash Team Rumble is not a free-to-play game. Its costs $29.99. How is this game and is it worth the price?
When you start up Crash Team Rumble, you have to sign into Activision’s online in order to play the game. This can be a bit frustrating if you don’t remember your Activision password. We didn’t and so had to sign up with a different password under a different e-mail.
Then it took forever to get through all of the legal stuff that no one reads and then get logged into the online. The load times for this game are not good. It takes forever to get into the online and then actually find a game to play with random players. There’s also a private match option if you know anyone who has the game and just want to play with friends.
Gameplay wise, Crash Team Rumble doesn’t make sense. There’s a tutorial but the game isn’t explained well. You are basically told what the game is in pieces and then have to figure out how those pieces fit together. There’s a lot going on in each match. The gameplay is good if you can figure out what to do and you’ll feel good when your team wins. As you continue to get better, you’ll unlock stuff from the battle pass.
Crash Team Rumble isn’t a bad game. Some players will actually end up really loving the game while others will just think its okay. Our experience was that the game is good but it could’ve been much better. If it explained its gameplay better and wasn’t such a pain to get into in the first place, Crash Team Rumble might’ve been great. It also could’ve had much better graphics.
Crash Team Rumble’s graphics are not very good. Its not the worst we’ve seen on the Xbox Series but it does feel very last generation and not all what you’d expect on Xbox’s latest system. The multiplayer maps range from very small to very big, though all of them are pretty generic looking. Even the Crash characters do not look as good as they should.
Meanwhile, the game’s audio is good. The music and sound effects are what you’d expect from a Crash game and nothing out of the ordinary. Fans of the series should enjoy it.
If you’re a fan of Crash Bandicoot, then you may enjoy this game more than the average player. That said, Crash Team Rumble could’ve been a great game and some players will still love it despite its flaws.
Crash Team Rumble is a good game that is riddled with problems: from an uninspired art style and graphics to a tutorial that doesn’t explain its gameplay well. However, some players might grow to love the game despite these issues. The core gameplay isn’t bad and there is fun to be had here. How much you love this game will definitely depend on how much of a Crash Bandicoot fan you are. Still, we can’t help but wish this was a better game. Crash Bandicoot deserves better than this.
