Sony Announces Pricing and Release for PS VR2

It’s a unique and powerful position when you are number one in sales in the gaming industry, sometimes it gives you a bit of an ego or a chip on your shoulder and you make some bad decisions. Well today Sony released all the details we have been waiting for on the PS VR2, and I can honestly say, I am disappointed in them. But lets dive more into that:

PlayStation VR2 is officially launching on February 22, 2023. PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station, designed specifically for the PS VR2 Sense controller, will also launch the same day.

Here is the PS VR2 lineup and recommended retail pricing for each product.

    • $749.99 CAD
    • Includes PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers and stereo headphones
  • PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle
    • $599.99 / €649.99 / £569.99 / ¥79,980 recommended retail price (including tax for GBP, EUR, and JPY)
    • $819.99 CAD
    • Includes PlayStation Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain, PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones
  • PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station
    • $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 / ¥5,480 recommended retail price (including tax for GBP, EUR, and JPY)
    • $64.99 CAD
    • Players can charge the PS VR2 Sense controller through a simple click-in design, without having to connect to a PS5 console – freeing up the console’s USB ports.

In the current economy and the current (still) constraint on quantities, you still can’t find a PS5 out in the wild walking through Target or Gamestop on any given day, it (to ME) seems absolutely insane that they plan on charging more than the PS5 console itself for the PS VR2, now yes it certainly is more advanced than it’s predecessor, and yes it will be more capable against it’s competitors in the market place…. I can’t consider shelling out that kind of money for the follow up to a product they didn’t heavily support last time. You can find more information on the PlayStation VR2, please consult the PlayStation Blog. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out and if it makes a splash when it launches or if this VR falls a little…ahem flat……
