Scott Pilgrim Meets The Nintendo Switch
Scott Pilgrim is coming out for the Nintendo Switch today! As you read this, it might already be out. Thanks to Ubisoft, I received my review copy of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game yesterday. Its time to share with you my first thoughts on the Nintendo Switch version!
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game is back! And now its on the Nintendo Switch.
I played a bunch of Scott Pilgrim last night and wanted to share my first thoughts on the Nintendo Switch port. This is not a review of the game. Hopefully I’ll be able to give you a full review of the game early next week.
For those who have never played Scott Pilgrim before, all you need to know is that its an old school style beat ’em up in the vain of Double Dragon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. It is not an easy game, even on easy mode. But its a really fun game.
And now its on the Switch! Let’s talk about what I think of the Nintendo Switch port so far…
Scott Pilgrim looks very good in portable mode and even better on a television. This game’s levels are so detailed and that shines through especially on TV.
I have not run into any major glitches yet, however I did see two minor ones. The first glitch was one where my character walked on a building in the background where she shouldn’t have been. Usually you can’t walk on the buildings behind you. It was more of a funny glitch than anything else.
The second glitch was a little more serious but not a major problem. I was replaying a level and I got to a section where it looked like I had beat all of the enemies and should have been able to go forward but I couldn’t. I had to quit the level and go back to the world map. I haven’t run into that problem anywhere else yet. Thankfully I had already beaten that level.
Otherwise, Scott Pilgrim runs really well so far. The joycon controls are good. The game is also compatible with a pro controller and that works well too!
I have been playing single player only for now. I do not have access to other players locally. There is an online multiplayer mode but no one was playing when I tried to test it out. I hope that there will be players starting today, throughout the weekend, and beyond. I think online multiplayer would be a blast with this game!
I do want to note that you’ll have to have a free Ubisoft Connect account along with the paid Nintendo account to access the online. I had to sign into my Ubisoft account to access the online multiplayer. This was a bit inconvenient but it may have some advantages.
There will be Scott Pilgrim challenges via Ubisoft Connect and you will get rewards for finishing them. That could be neat. There were no challenges yet so we’ll see if this is actually something that adds to the game. Hopefully I’ll be able to talk about the challenges in my review.
I’m pretty impressed by the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game port so far. I’m glad this game is on the Switch. It really feels at home on this system.
I will talk more about Scott Pilgrim as a whole and the Nintendo Switch port in my full review. Please stay tuned to GamesReviews.com for more on Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game.
Thank you to Ubisoft for providing a digital code for this preview and the review. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game will be out on January 14, 2020. Hey! That’s today!
